Hugh "Duffy" Daugherty (September 8, 1915 in Emeigh, Pennsylvania - September 25, 1987 in Santa Barbara, California) was the head coach of the Michigan State University Spartans football team from 1954 to 1972, where he compiled a career record of 109-65-5. He was best known for his wit, good humor, and wisdom. His 19 seasons at the helm of Spartan football are still the longest of any head coach in the program's history. He is regarded as one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football
