Chitto Harjo (Crazy Snake or Snake Recklessly Brave or perhaps best understood popularly as "Kamikaze" Snake with its associations of selfless risk for the benefit of others) was the leader of the Crazy Snake Rebellion, considered by many to be the last "Indian uprising". A traditional Mvskoke (Muscogee) (Creek Indian); he was an ardent opponent of assimilation and allotment as well as an excellent orator. He was a prisoner of war against the United States.
