Mark Duffy is the chief executive officer of Bank of Scotland (Ireland) (which trades as Halifax in the retail banking market). From Kilmainham, he studied at UCD and has a master's degree in economics and history. Having worked in ICC Bank plc he lectured for three years in Trinity College Dublin before taking up a position at a venture capital company, which was later sold to Anglo Irish Bank. In 1992, he joined the board of Equity Bank, a subsidiary of Capital Bank, and became CEO. Equity Bank and ICC Bank merged to become Bank of Scotland (Ireland) in 2000 and Duffy has been CEO since then
