Ben Linus:
Thomas the Apostle. When Jesus wanted to return to Judea, knowing that he would probably be murdered there, Thomas said to the others, "Let us also go there and we might die with him." But Thomas was not remembered for this bravery. His claim to fame came later when he refuses to acknowledge the resurrection. He just couldn't wrap his mind around it. If I don't step in, maybe you could. You could be my representative and intermediary to the people I bring to this Island.

Richard Alpert:

She kinda said something else. Something you have to do.

Richard Alpert:

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes:
She said you have to stop The Man in Black. You have to stop him from leaving the Island. And she said that if you don't... we'll all go to hell.

[the Man in Black sits on a log in the shade, holding a white stone. Jacob shows up]

Jacob:

Man in Black:

Jacob:
I see you got my present.

Man in Black:

Jacob:
So you tried to kill me.

Man in Black:
You expect an apology?

Jacob:
I'd just like to know why you did it.

Man in Black:

Man in Black:

Sooner than you think. [he smashes the bottle against the log, releasing the wine]

Jacob:
[to Richard] Imagine that this wine is what you keep calling hell. There are other names for it. Malevolence. Evil. Darkness. And it's all down here swirling at the bottom. Unable to get out, because if it did it would spread. Now, the cork is this Island. [puts a cork in the jug, trapping the wine] And it's the only thing keeping the darkness where it belongs.

Ben Linus:
[about Richard] I've known him since I was twelve years old, that should count for something.

Frank Lapidus:
So you guys met when you were kids, huh?

Ben Linus:
No Frank, I was a kid. Richard looked just like he does today.

Frank Lapidus:
You're saying this guy doesn't age?

Ben Linus:
That's exactly what I'm saying.

Ana-Lucia Cortez:
[approaching hidden bunker in the middle of nowhere] We're here!

Sawyer:
What's you gonna do? Beam us up?

Libby:
How'd you get shot, anyway?

Sawyer:
With a gun.

Shannon:
So, does all this - the tent, flowers - mean that we're serious now?

Sayid:
Quite definitely not. I do this for all the girls I meet on deserted islands.

Claire:
You know, I think everybody knows more about my baby than me.

Locke:
Everybody?

Claire:
Charlie read me the riot act last night for waking him. And as mad as it made me - turns out he was right. You know, it's like we're playing mum and dad to this baby. Yet, I don't remember marrying him.

[Locke laughs]

Claire:
No, seriously. I mean, we're practically strangers, him and me. For all I know, Charlie could be some religious freak.

Locke:
Yeah, I seriously doubt that.

Claire:
Then why is he carrying around a Virgin Mary statue?

Locke:
What?

Claire:
You know, one of the little statues? He says he found it in the jungle.

Locke:
Hmm, how about that?

Ana-Lucia Cortez:
How about you shut your mouth and get your buddy over here moving?

Michael:
What happened to you people? You want us to take you back with us? Fine. But you want me to keep quiet then you need to tell me why I have to.

Ana-Lucia Cortez:
They came the first night that we got here. They took three of us. Nothing happened for two weeks, then they came back. They took nine more. They're smart, and they're animals, and they could be anywhere at any time. Now we're moving through the jungle - their jungle - just so you can save your little hick friend over here. And if you think that one gun and one bullet is going to stop them - think again. So shut your mouth and keep moving.

Michael:

Ana-Lucia Cortez:
They took a lot of things.

[talking about the gun]

Shannon:
You need to carry that all the time?

Sayid:
I only carry it because I have someone to protect.

Charlie:

Locke:

Charlie:

[Sawyer's just fainted and Michael runs to check on him]

Whatever Ben Linus did down at the Orchid Station, I think it may have dislodged us.

James 'Sawyer' Ford:

Neil Frogurt:

Daniel Faraday:
We must have been inside of the radius.

You know maybe if you eat more comfort food you wouldn't have to go around shooting people.

Charlie Pace:

Kate Austen:

Charlie Pace:
As in a platinum record, as in a million units sold. Now drive shaft's albums must have spiked when everybody found out that I have died in some catastrophic plane disaster. When I come back, alive, it's gonna be insane.

Kate Austen:
So you think the raft's gonna work?

Charlie Pace:
Of course it'll work, look at that thing! It's not a raft; they built a sodding boat. When they get picked up, the helicopters will come, making us ridiculously and eternally famous. What's the matter? Don't you wanna be famous?

James 'Sawyer' Ford:
Yo chief, dumb question; we're sailing out in the ocean, right?

Michael Dawson:

James 'Sawyer' Ford:
Sulu over here is packing a suitcase full of salted fish!

Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes:
[shouts] We how am I supposed to keep it straight who knows what around here? I mean Steve didn't even know about the polar bear.

John Locke:
I'm sorry those things happened to you, Ben.

Ben Linus:
Those things had to happen to me. That was my destiny. But you'll understand soon enough that there are consequences to being chosen. Because destiny, John... is a fickle b*tch.

Sawyer:
[Jack confronts Sawyer after he beat up Boone] Look! I don't know what kinda Commie share-fest you're running over in Cavetown, but down here possession's nine-tenths, and a man's got a right to protect his property.

[when Sawyer wouldn't give them Shannon's medicine] I'm gonna kill him!

Sawyer:

Kate:
[continuing to read the letter] All I know is your name. But one of these days, I'm gonna find you and I'm gonna give you this letter, so you remember what you done to me. You killed my parents, Mr. Sawyer.

Jack:
We're not savages, Kate. Not yet.

Sayid:
[Sayid plans to get asthma medicine from Sawyer] Part of my training entailed getting the enemy to communicate. Just give me ten minutes with him. He'll give us the medicine.

Sayid:
[leaving camp] I've worse things to fear than what's in the jungle. What I did today - what I almost did - I swore to do never again. If I can't keep that promise, I have no right to be here.

Kate:
There's nowhere to go.

Sayid:
Someone has to walk the shore and map the island. And see what else there is. I can't think of a better person to do it than the only one I trust. I hope we meet again.

Kate:
You try too hard, Sawyer. I ask you to help a woman who can't breathe, and you want me to kiss you? Nobody's that disgusting... I've seen you, ya know.

Sawyer:

[Charlie is trying to get peanut butter from Hurley] Food from the plane's been gone over a week, dude.

[to Sayid and Sawyer] You know, it's interesting that you two are now the camp's moral police. I'm curious, Sayid, how long was it before you told everyone on that beach exactly how many people you've tortured in your life. Do they know about Basra? And I'm sure the first thing you did when you got here, James, was to gather everyone in a circle, and tell them about the man you shot in cold blood the night before you got on the plane. So why don't we just skip the part where you two pretend to be righteous. I'm taking that medication back to Claire. And you're gonna let me. Because if she doesn't get it, she's gonna die. John Locke:

Desmond:

[Sayid suddenly attacks Keamy's henchmen]

[Frank watches as Ilana examines hieroglyphics on the wall to open a passageway]

Frank Lapidus:
You got a plan or are you gonna keep staring at the wall?

Jack:
It doesn't matter, Kate, who we were, what we did before this... before the crash. It doesn't really... Three days ago, we all died. We should all be able to start over.

Hurley:
[on Kate's mugshot] She looks pretty hardcore.

Sayid:
Basic photography - point and shoot. Satellites can shoot but they must be told where to point.

Charlie:

Sayid:
To relay what we heard, without fully understanding it will cause a panic. If we tell them what we know, we take away the hope, and hope is a very dangerous thing to lose.

Hurley:

[Boone slips the gun and clip from Sawyer and Sayid while they sleep, to stand watch] Give it back to me.

Sawyer:
How about we talk about that other thing. You know the transmission Abdul picked up on his little radio?

[after a gunshot is heard in the marshal's tent, Sawyer comes out and tells Jack that the marshal, dying in agony, asks Sawyer to kill him. Seconds later, the marshall is heard choking]

Jack:
You shot him in the chest?

Sawyer:
I was aiming for his heart.

Jack:
You missed.

Charlie Pace:
So, your, uh... your husband, was he on the flight?

Claire Littleton:
Oh, no, I'm not married.
