The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful (often referred to as B&B) is an American television soap opera created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell for CBS. It premiered on March 23, 1987 as a sister show to the Bells' other soap opera The Young and the Restless; several characters from each of the two shows have crossed over to the other since the early 1990s. Set in Los Angeles, California, the show centers upon the Forrester family and their fashion house business Forrester Creations. The program features an ensemble cast, headed by its longest-serving actors John McCook as Eric Forrester and Katherine Kelly Lang as Brooke Logan. Since its premiere, the show has become the most-watched soap in the world, with an audience of an estimated 26.2 million viewers. As of 2010, it continues to hold on to the second-placed position in weekly Nielsen Ratings for daytime dramas. The Bold and the Beautiful has also won 31 Daytime Emmy Awards, including three for Outstanding Drama Series, in 2009, 2010, as well as 2011. On September 7, 2011, the series switched to high definition, making it the second-to-last American soap to make the switch, at the time. B&B was the last American soap opera to make the transition due to the cancellation of ABC's One Life to Live before it returned along with All My Children on April 29, 2013. It is the youngest airing daytime soap opera in the United States, celebrating its thirtieth anniversary in March in 2017. The serial will air its 8,000th episode on January 4, 2019.

Dr. Taylor Hayes Marone:
Your Honor, that woman - Brooke Logan - is on a mission to make my life a living hell. She's stolen not one, but two of my husbands. I was married to Ridge Forrester. We had a wonderful marriage. He's the father of my three children. And we were very happy until she forced her way into that marriage, and she ruined it. She ruined everything. But that is nothing compared to what she did to my marriage with Nick Marone. You wouldn't believe the way she insinuated herself into our lives. Yes, I thought I was through with her. I thought I was free from her in my life, but no. She found a way to get herself intertwined into the deepest, most intimate part of our life. Just look at her right now. Look at her, Judge. Look where she's sitting. She's sitting right behind my husband. And sitting with her is her daughter, Bridget - my trusted in vitro doctor. You see, Judge, um, Bridget - her daughter - used the wrong eggs. She implanted the wrong egg. She used her mother's egg. Her mother - Brooke Logan - that's whose child I carried. Oh, I know, they, you know, they've told me that it's like a, you know, a little accident, some kind of mix-up that happened in the lab. But this has been an absolute nightmare for me. I mean, really, you know, who - who wouldn't be pushed to the limit? Who wouldn't want to take a drink? Really? But I-I'm - I'm telling you that I take full responsibility for that, just like I take responsibility for the darkest time in my life when I had had some drinks and I had a terrible accident, and it claimed the life of one of our family members. I live with that pain and that guilt every day. There are still times that I wish that I had been the one that died. But I found a way to move on with my life, and I-I went to A.A. And I got myself together. And - you've gotta know that I would never want to run that risk again. I would never, ever want to go through what I've gone through before. I know I have to be careful. I know that I can't drink. I know that I shouldn't drink. And I am not going to drink. Have - have I been, uh, pushed to the brink? Am I fighting for my sanity? Yes. Yeah, I am. But the only way that I'm going to be able to hold onto my sanity is if I have my child. He's all I have. Please don't let Brooke take anything else away from me. I've lost everything to her. I need something to hold onto. I need my child.

Dominick Marone:
This may sound a little strange. Uh, but it was a real privilege and an honor to share your... what we thought were your last moments with you.

Katie Logan:
Everyone's been talking about how brave I've been. But I have to be honest, I haven't felt very brave. I just keep thinking about that day on the beach, staring out at that beautiful ocean that we both love. I just kept thinking maybe, maybe it would be easier if I just let it wash me away, if I just let this be over. I think from the moment I woke up in the hospital and I found out what Storm had done and why he had done it, there's been a part of me that just wanted to lay down and die with him. And I thought, why fight it? Why not just let fate decide? I didn't realize what a second chance I'd been given until you made me see it. You made me want to wake up in the morning. You made me want to look forward to the day. You made me see that that day on the marlin and our prom night was just a beginning. You made me realize what I'd been missing, what I'd taken for granted. You made me want to live. And I know I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know because you have this uncanny ability to know what I'm feeling before I'm even feeling it. And I don't want to hide from it any longer. I don't want to hide from life ever again. I want to say it. Because it was there on the beach. And it was there when you held me in your arms and we danced. And when you carried me up the stairs to this bed. You have brought magic into my life. And I love you. And I don't care who hears me say it. I love you.
