Barbara's Sister:
But I just wouldn't feel right taking...

Peter:

[Barbara's sister tries to return the expensive necklace her sister bought to Peter]

Barbara's Sister:
But I know they cost much more than the nine cents she paid.

Peter:
But I wanted to make her happy, and she wanted to make you happy. It's a good time of year for happiness.

Barbara's Sister:
Still I couldn't possibly expect it...

Peter:
Besides, she gave all she had.

[Peter hands the string of beads to Barbara]

Barbara May:
They're so clear, so blue...

[Peter hands Marilyn the string of blue beads]

Peter:
Put them on.

Marilyn:
Why?

Peter:
You'll see.

Marilyn:
They're so clear, so blue...

Peter:
There's such a thing as being too practical.

Marilyn:
All right, I'm going to be too practical.

Peter:
And you can say that standing close to a romantic type?

Marilyn:
You don't even belong in the Twentieth Century.

Peter:
That's what's wrong with the Twentieth Century; it needs a little more of the Fourteenth.

Peter:
These blue beads belong on you, Marilyn

Marilyn:
Peter, you're in business to stay in business.

Peter:
But I'm also engaged to be married.

Marilyn:
Well, we'll never pay the bills this way.
