Terror in the Family

[the police and the investigators has arrived and find out what happened, the people all over town find out what's going on. This is a major chaos]

Todd Marten:
I don't know what we're do. We tried everything. She's out of control, she breaks things, she hits her mother.

Police Officer:
May I have your hand?

Todd Marten:
Uh, that was an accident. Look, if you can just get that knife away from her, calm her down, I'm sure we can. [the policeman caught and bring Deena downstairs. The Police Officer is writing a report. But Todd is here and have found her] We're taking you to the hospital.

Police Officer:
No, you're not. She's under arrest.

Todd Marten:
Arrest for what?

Police Officer:
Assault.

Todd Marten:
Uh, now, wait a minute, wait a minute. We don't want this.

Cynthia Marten:
You can't arrest her.

Police Officer:
Take her out.

Cynthia Marten:
You can't do that.

Todd Marten:
Now, wait a minute, wait a minute. We didn't ask for this. We didn't call the police. [If they didn't do, then who then? Adam call the police]

Adam Marten:
I did. [Cynthia and Todd turned to his son Adam, sitting at the piano. Adam explains and find out the whole details since Todd is hurting his finger at the hospital along time ago to stop Deena, and call the police] It was your idea. At the hospital, you said that...

Todd Marten:
I didn't say you should call the police... [But the police officer hand Todd Marten the list of police warning]

Police Officer:
Here. You'll see the warning. Just tell you what to do.

Police Woman:
Come on. Outside. [Deena is facing charges for assault and battery. And the police has taken Deena in the car and be in custody]

Todd Marten:
Deena. Deena. Deena, don't worry.

Neighbor:
What happened? What's going on?

Todd Marten:
It's a complete misunderstand. It's got somebody call the cops. That's crazy! Hey, just, hey, look, Deena, Deena, it's only be a few hours, we'll said we'll come down first thing tomorrow morning. We'll get you right home. [Deena will be okay, and Garrett will wait]

Todd Marten:
Tomorrow, you'll stay home, You'll complete everyone of your missing assignments.

Deena Marten:
Tomorrow's Saturday.

Todd Marten:
[Yelling] Good! Then you'll have the weekend to finish it. And if you ever, ever raise your hand to anyone in this family again, I'll call the police.

Deena Marten:
The police?

Todd Marten:
Yes.

Todd Marten:
What are they gonna do?

Todd Marten:
I hope you'll never have to find out.

Todd Marten:
[Deena comes home at 2:00 A.M. and Deena's father is sitting on the stairwell] Do I have to lock you in your room?

Deena Marten:
I just went out for a walk.

Todd Marten:
At 2 o' clock in the morning? You went out for a walk?

Cynthia Marten:
[Deena's mother walks down the stairwell] When your grounded?

Deena Marten:
I've been locked up all day!

Todd Marten:
You haven't been locked up all day! But you will be, I'll nail the damn door shut if I have to!

Cynthia Marten:
You're not leaving this house till we get you to a doctor.

Deena Marten:
A doctor?

Todd Marten:
It's for your own good Deena! Whatever is going on has to stop and it's gonna stop now.

[Deena grabs a telephone and starts swinging it]

Cynthia Marten:
What are you doing?

Deena Marten:
Get away from me!

Todd Marten:
Put that down!

[Deena continues to swing the telephone]

Todd Marten:
Deena stop it right now!

Cynthia Marten:
Deena stop it! Deena!

[Deena slowly backs up and some pictures are behind her]

Todd Marten:
What the hell are you doing?

[Deena hits her mother in the face with the telephone]

Todd Marten:
Deena! Deena come back here! Deena!

Judge Roubal:
You're being charged with assault, too. That's a felony. It's a very serious charge. Since this is your first offense, I don't want to keep you in detention. But the situation has your home is far too volatile for me to send you back until the cases resolved.

Todd Marten:
Uh, Your Honor, if I can say something. I don't think Deena was trying to hit her mother with a telephone. I think she was just trying to...

Judge Roubal:
I don't want to hear about that now. I'm only interested whether I should keep Deena in detention until the dispo hearing. All right, Daniel, alternative placements available?

Attorney:
Uh, Your Honor, I spoke with Deena this morning. And she informed me that if she can't go home, she has an aunt she like to stay with.

Cynthia Marten:
But she wants to come home.

Judge Roubal:
I can't allow that.

[Todd whispering in Cynthia's ear]

Todd Marten:
Look, let's just get her out. And we're worry about the rest later, okay?

Judge Roubal:
Do you have any objection to the aunt assuming that the probation officer approves?

Todd Marten:
No. No, Your Honor.

Judge Roubal:
And in addition to the placement order, I want Deena to abide by whatever guidelines the probation officer sets forth and begin counseling immediately. Now within my power, I ordered the entire family into therapy. But I can't do that. What I can do is mandate that between now and the dispo hearing, you'll see your daughter only in the presence of a therapist approved by this court.

Judge Roubal:
[Judge Roubal is addressing to Deena Marten in court before making the ruling] I could send you to jail for 6 months, Deena. But since this is your first offense, and since I have some very good reports from your therapist, I'm going to allow you to go home. But I'm also placing you on probation for 1 year, provided that you perform 300 hours of Community Service, that you attend anger management classes, and that you abide by whatever addition guidelines your probation officer deems appropriate. I have high hopes for you, Deena. I've seen too many kids fall by the wayside because they did not have the support of their families. You've got that. So don't let me see you back here again. [Deena listen and accept Judge Roubal's warning. Deena smiles]

Todd Marten:
