A gentleman is one who doesn't and can’t forgive himself for self-committed mistake even if others forget it and the self-criticism is a mark of his right attitude towards life.
Do not compare yourself to other people, for you are a unique and wonderful creation. Make your own beautiful mark in life.
I had worked at the University of St. Andrews, over 25 years ago during 1985-88, as an academic staff and a research fellow at the Department of Chemistry. Those were the most wonderful and highly productive three and half years of my life. I was fortunate to work in association with one of the genius Scientists in the UK (Professor David Cole-Hamilton) at the most beautiful place in the world, St. Andrews. My research work had led to various patents and publications, creating a notable mark of distinction that stll makes me extremely proud. University of St. Andrews is not only the oldest and highly prestigious University in the world, but also the Crème de la crème, best of the best, and cut above the rest! My Best Wishes from USA, to University of St. Andrews. Mòran taing, Alma Mater.
O many a shaft, at random sent, Finds mark the archer little meant And many a word, at random spoken, May soothe or wound a heart that's broken
A good man does not spy around for the black spots in others, but presses unswervingly on towards his mark.
A kiss can be a comma, a question mark or an exclamation point. That's basic spelling that every woman ought to know.
A wise man ought always to follow the paths beaten by great men, and to imitate those who have been supreme, so that if his ability does not equal theirs, at least it will savor of it. Let him act like the clever archers who, designing to hit the mark which yet appears too far distant, and knowing the limits to which the strength of their bow attains, take aim much higher than the mark, not to reach by their strength or arrow to so great a height, but to be able with the aid of so high an aim to hit the mark they wish to reach.
A woman will not throw away a garland, though soiled, which her lover gave: not in the object lies a present?s worth, but in the love which it was meant to mark.
Beside the streamlet seated, mark how life glides on: That sign, how swift each moment goes, to me?s enough. Behold this world?s delights, and view its various pains: If not to you, the joy it shows to me?s enough.
Blaise Pascal used to mark with charcoal the walls of his playroom, seeking a means of making a circle perfectly round and a triangle whose sides and angle were all equal. He discovered these things for himself and then began to seek the relationship which existed between them. He did not know any mathematical terms and so he made up his own. Using these names he made axioms and finally developed perfect demonstrations, until he had come to the thirty-second proposition of Euclid.
Character is the indelible mark that determines the only true value of all people and all their work
Commerce has set the mark of selfishness, the signet of its all-enslaving power, upon a shining ore, and called it gold: before whose image bow the vulgar great, the vainly rich, the miserable proud, the mob of peasants, nobles, priests, and kings, and with blind feelings reverence the power that grinds them to the dust of misery.
Do not trust all men, but trust men of worth the former course is silly, the latter a mark of prudence.
Do not trust all men, but trust men of worth; the former course is silly, the latter a mark of prudence.
Dr. Evil The details of my life are quite inconsequential... very well, where do I begin My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. There really is nothing like a shorn scrotum... it's breathtaking- I highly suggest you try it.
Every ending brings a new beginning. Yes! we do finish one thing in order to begin another thing i.e. your so seemed bad or unhappy ending will mark a fabulous new beginning for you. So, just keep your fingers crossed. I mean, keep on hoping and trusting in God for a positive change.
Everyone has a different finger print.... Not to distinguish onself , but to give us an equal opportunity to leave a mark on the world.
For me the mark of a great History teacher is the ability to take students to places outside the classroom while staying in the classroom.
He is not drowning His sheep when He washeth them, nor killing them when He is shearing them. But by this He showeth that they are His own and the newshorn sheep do most visibly bear His name or mark, when it is almost worn out and scarce discernible on them that have the longest fleece.
Here is the basic rule for winning success. Let's mark it in the mind and remember it. The rule is: Success depends on the support of other people. The only hurdle between you and what you want to be in is the support of other people.
Here is the world, sound as a nut, perfect, not the smallest piece of chaos left, never a stitch nor an end, not a mark of haste, or botching, or second thought; but the theory of the world is a thing of shreds and patches.
I believe that any man's life will be filled with constant and unexpected encouragement, if he makes up his mind to do his level best each day, and as nearly as possible reaching the high water mark of pure and useful living.
