You're often advised to choose your battles wisely, so that you'll win the big war. So you weigh out the benefits versus costs for the battles in your life. You drop the battles that have very little long term impact. However, at some point in life you start to realize that the purpose of your life is far greater than battling battles. At that stage, you strategize "win-win" situations that would make you and your opponent triumphant in the end. In my view, Life is too short to worry about warring and winning all the time. Life is measured by not the number of battles you fought and won, but the number of times you turned those battles around into "win-win" situations.
