Edgar Wayburn has worked to preserve the most breath-taking examples of the American landscape. In fact, over the course of more than a half-century, both as President of the Sierra Club and as a private citizen, he has saved more of our wilderness than any person alive.
There is nothing wrong with America that cannot be cured by what is right with America.
When I took office, only high energy physicists had ever heard of what is called the Worldwide Web.... Now even my cat has its own page.
Our land of new promise will be a nation that meets its obligations, a nation that balances its budget, but never loses the balance of its values.
The First Amendment does not require students to leave their religion at the schoolhouse door. … If students can wear T-shirts advertising sports teams, rock groups or politicians, they can also wear T-shirts that promote religion. … Religion is too important to our history and our heritage for us to keep it out of our schools.
Quotes from the news wire:
I think Bill Clinton all agree that Bill Clinton have to change the way the government works, let’s make it … less costly and smaller – leaner, not meaner.

This struggle is between autocracy and democracy from our country to places we can’t even believe we’re being compared to.
One of the stories ingrained in my mind is that often black women, even women of education and affluence like Serena Williams, come close to dying when she gives birth because people are not paying attention to her.
Of course they want to turn back the clock on abortion. They spent 50 years trying to make that happen, they are determined to exercise control over who are, how we feel and believe and act in ways that I thought we had long left behind.
There is a limit to how many migrants any society can take without severe disruption and assistance, and our system is based much more on an assumption that things would be more normal.
We will always be grateful for the kindness she showed us through the years, particularly during our visits to Buckingham Palace in 1995 and 2000, and for all she did to deepen the Special Relationship.
I will always remember that early October morning in 1991, when Jimmie Lou introduced me as I kicked off my presidential campaign on the steps of the Old State House, as always, she was enthusiastic, caring and kind, saying just the words we all needed to hear.

It was Franklin Roosevelt who wanted to set up an organization that would police the world after the defeat of Nazi Germany, but the only way he could get Russia and other powers to agree to that deal, was if they had the ability to block any actions against themselves.
When I became Bill Clinton ambassador for the Bill Clinton, Lavrov, Foreign Minister had been there 10 years already. So he was very skillful, he knew how to maneuver in Security Council. He was very formidable. And so we have Russia right now, very knowledgeable about Bill Clinton operations so that's an advantage that they have.
Judge Breyer will bring to the Court a well recognized and impressive ability to build bridges in pursuit of fairness and justice. In the generations ahead, the Supreme Court will face questions of overriding national importance, many of which we cannot today even imagine.

Congress is doing what they believe is right, the rest of us should go about our lives, and all of us commenting on it won't have anything to do with it. They should do their job, I'll do Bill Clinton.
They make a big deal out of it.
In that bill, there were longer sentences. And most of these people are in prison under state law, but the federal law set a trend, and that was overdone. We were wrong about that. That percentage of it, we were wrong about.
The good news is we had the biggest drop in crime in history. The bad news is we had a lot of people who were locked up, who were minor actors, for way too long.
We cannot let go of the last 21 years of hard-won peace and progress.
These allegations are false and I need to go back to work for the American people.
Hillary and I mourn the passing of John Dingell, one of the finest public servants in American history, for nearly 60 years, John represented the people of Michigan with honor, integrity, great good humor, and unequaled ability to get good legislation passed.
It was an amazing experience. This man who I had always liked and respected and ran against... I literally came to love.
I accept my share of the responsibility in the result of the elections, i share a large part of the responsibility.
And that troubles me greatly. It saddens me. Because our judicial system has been viewed as one of the main pillars of our constitutional government. So I don't know how people are going to react to it. I think, given our divides, it will pretty much fall predictably between those who are for and those who are against, but the President's been true to form.
What was done last night in the White House was a political rally. It further undermined the image and integrity of Supreme Court, and that troubles me greatly. It saddens me. Because our judicial system has been viewed as one of the main pillars of our constitutional government. So I don't know how people are going to react to it. I think, given our divides, it will pretty much fall predictably between those who are for and those who are against.
That may happen here, we'll see, all of this that is related thus far has to do with things that happened before the President of the united states, Donald Trump, was sworn in.
I think the norms have really changed in terms of, what you can do to somebody against their will, how much you can crowd their space, make them miserable at work, you don’t have to physically assault somebody to make them, you know, uncomfortable at work or at home or in their other — just walking around. That, I think, is good.
To every little girl who dreams big : Yes, you can be anything you want -- even president, tonight is for you.
Voting is underway, so The American people deserve to get the full and complete facts immediately.
Stephen Colbert on CBS said : Examples of men who were not held accountable for their behavior, especially men in power with younger women or people who worked for them, is worthy of being readjudicated or adjudicated for the first time, no matter how long ago it happened.
People need to know I apologized. I meant it then. I mean it now ... And I still support Me Too, and I think we all need to keep trying to be doing better. And I would never dispute that.
I don’t think it would be an issue because people would be using the facts instead of the imagined facts. If the facts were the same today, I wouldn’t [step down].
They had to distill it and it looked like it said I didn't apologize and had no intention to, and I was mad at me, here is what I want to say, it wasn't my finest hour.
A lot of the facts have been conveniently omitted to make the story work, I think partly because Monica Lewinsky and her family're frustrated that Monica Lewinsky and her family got all these serious allegations against the current occupant of the Oval Office and his voters don't seem to care, i think I did the right thing. I defended the Constitution.
I like the #MeToo movement; it's way overdue, it doesn’t mean I agree with everything. I still have some questions about some of the decisions that have been made.
I don’t think it would be an issue because people would be using the facts instead of the imagined facts. I just disagree with her.
The truth is, the hubbub was I got hot under the collar because of the way the questions were asked.
The suggestion was that I never apologized for what caused all the trouble for me 20 years ago, first point is, I did. I meant it then, I meant it now. I apologized to my family, to Monica Lewinsky and her family and to the American people before a panel of ministers in the White House, which was widely reported. So I did Monica Lewinsky and her family. I meant it then and I mean it today. I live with it all the time.
Nobody believes that I got out of that for free, i left the White House $ 16 million in debt. But you typically have ignored gaping facts in describing this. And I bet you don't even know them. This was litigated 20 years ago. Two-thirds of the American people sided with me.
Well, I just disagree with Bill Clinton wife, i mean, I think -- you know, just -- you have to -- really ignore what the context was. But, you know, Bill Clinton wife's living in a different context.
This was litigated 20 years ago, two-thirds of the American people sided with me.
I think they have tried by and large to cover this investigation based on the facts.
I don’t like all this. I couldn’t be elected anything now ?be?cause I just don’t like embarrassing people?, my mother would have whipped me for five days in a row when I was a little boy if I spent all my time badmouthing people like this.
[W]hy did he sit on the information for so long, until right before the election?
My husband and Loretta Lynch said they did n’t say a word about this, i honestly reject that premise, partly because there’s a chain of command in Justice Department.
I’m afflicted with the responsibility gene. I did the right thing, i did everything that I was supposed to do.
You’re supposed to shut your eyes, I don’t want to shut my eyes on national television, i can only say, based on my personal experience, that if you’re sitting cross-legged, on the yoga mat, and you’re doing it and you’re really trying to inhale, and hold it and then have a long exhale, it is very relaxing.
I want to thank you. I want to thank you, Anderson. I’m hard on the press, as you know from reading the book, in many ways, i thought the way you started that debate, what you said in the beginning, needed to be said and I really appreciated that.
I can only say, based on my personal experience, that if you’re sitting cross-legged, on the yoga mat, and you’re doing it and you’re really trying to inhale, and hold it and then have a long exhale, it is very relaxing.
The United States and international inspectors will carefully monitor North Korea to make sure it keeps its commitments, only as it does so, will North Korea fully join the community of nations.
I know of no one who seriously believes that the United States and [South Korea] would be defeated in a war of aggression by North Korea if they were to attack, and I made it as clear as I could that if they were to do that, they would pay a price so great that the nation would probably not survive as it is known today.
Working on a book about a sitting President -- drawing on what I know about the job, life in the White House, and the way Washington works -- has been a lot of fun, i'm a story-teller, and President Clinton's insight has allowed us to tell a really interesting one. It's a rare combination.

This is a global deal. It is like we are all having an identity crisis at once, what happened 20 years ago is a microcosm of what is coming full bloom today. And these things are going to need to be worked out.
Every moment we shared was a joy because he was a good man and an inspiration, because he was also a great man.
You know, right out of law school I went to work for theChildren's Defense Fund.
More thought has to be given to the process and transactions and regulations so that we don’t kill or maim what works.
We have seen this throughout the campaign, yes, this is who Donald Trump is.
Well, Donald, I know you live in your own reality, but that is not the facts, the facts are I did say I hoped it would be a good deal, but once it was negotiated, which I was not responsible for, I concluded it wasn’t.
Or 26 years. Or whatever number you want to use. You haven’t done it. You haven’t done it.
There are real questions being raised about whether Donald Trump himself is just a puppet for the Kremlin in this race, washington Republicans ' need Donald Trump to disclose all of his financial ties and whether Donald Trump advisers are having meetings with the Kremlin. Mook pressed similar points on CBS, saying Trump has ties to China money, while again trying to deflect questions about the foundation’s alleged.
North American Free Trade Agreement's true that too often past trade deals have been sold to the American people with rosy scenarios that didn't pan out, the answer is not to rant and rave, or cut ourselves off from the world.
The answer is to finally make trade work for us, not against us, so my message to every worker in Michigan and across America is this : I will stop any trade deal that kills jobs or holds down wages, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
He's offered no credible plans to address what working families are up against today.
It's true that too often past trade deals have been sold to the American people with rosy scenarios that didn't pan out.
He refuses to do what every other presidential candidate in decades has done and release his tax returns.
We want to help because we think that it’s in everyone’s interest do so.
She will bring to the Presidency the skill, experience and wisdom that is needed in a President and Commander in Chief, having myself served in numerous diplomatic and national security positions starting in 1960, I am convinced that Secretary Clinton has the leadership qualities that far and away qualify her best to be our next President.
It was something I had offered to do since last August, i've been eager to do it, and I was pleased to have the opportunity to assist the department in bringing its review to a conclusion.
Now I don't say this because of typical political disagreements - liberals and conservatives say Trump's ideas would be disastrous, economists on the right, the left and the center all agree Trump would throw us back into recession.
Donald Trump has said he is qualified to be president because of his business record, so let's take a look at what he did for his businesses: He's written a lot of books about business. They all seem to end at Chapter 11; go figure.

Marc and I are overwhelmed with gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of our son, Aidan Clinton Mezvinsky.
A college loan is the only loan you cannot refinance, which I think is insane, your education is more of a lifetime asset than any home you’ll ever own.
For nearly two decades, Arieh Saban has been a good friend, a loyal supporter, and trusted advisor to Hillary Clinton and me.
For nearly two decades, Haim Saban has been a good friend, a loyal supporter, and trusted advisor to Hillary Clinton and me.
There comes a time when you have to look at the reality.
I have a lot of experience dealing with men who sometimes get off the reservation in the way they behave and how they speak. I'm not going to deal with their temper tantrums or their bullying or their efforts to try to provoke me. He can say whatever he wants to say about me. I could really care less.
They are often the kinds of kids that are called' super-predators.' No conscience, no empathy, we can talk about why they ended up that way, but first we have to bring them to heel.
I don't know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped up on crack and sent them out on the street to murder other African-American children.
I don't know how you would characterize the gang leaders who got 13-year-old kids hopped on crack and sent them out on the street to murder other African-American children, maybe you thought they were good citizens. Hillary Clinton didn't.
The Sanders campaign needs to stop using the New York primary as a playground for political games and negative attacks against Hillary Clinton.
I know there has been a lot of discussion in the past week or so about trade. And I would like to take the opportunity tonight to set the record straight, to every worker in Ohio, every worker across America, let me say this: If I am fortunate enough to be your president I will stand with you, I will have your back and I will stop dead in its tracks any trade deal that hurts America and American workers.
He has lit the fire and then he throws his hands up and claims that he shouldn't be held responsible, he has been incredibly bigoted towards so many groups.
What happened to you is a travesty and I can't even imagine what you went through and how terrible those days and nights must have been for all those years, and I know that all of us are so regretful that you or any person has to go through what you did. And I hope that now that you are standing here before us that you will have whatever path in life you choose going forward.
I want the government to do it, i want the United States government to stand up for steel.
I'm not going to spill the beans right now, but suffice it to say, there are many arguments we could use against him.
I'm having foreign leaders ask if they can endorse me and stop Donald Trump.
In the course of dealing with all of this incoming fire from them, I have developed a pretty thick skin. I am not new to the national arena, and I think whoever goes up against Donald Trump better be ready.
I would breathe a sigh of relief if either the courts or the states themselves began to eliminate the death penalty.
I am much better when I actually have a job to do.
I get carried away and I've seen it a million times.
The money was there and had to be released in order to save the auto industry and 4 million jobs and to begin the restructuring, i voted to save the auto industry. He voted against the money that ended up saving the auto industry. I think that is a pretty big difference.
Could I finish? You'll have your turn.
I worked with then-Senator Obama to get more money, more support to do more to remove lead.
Tomorrow, this campaign goes national, we are going to compete for every vote in every state. We are not taking anything and we are not taking anyone for granted.
We don't need to make America great again -- America has never stopped being great, but we do need to make America whole again. Instead of building walls, we need to be tearing down barriers. We need to show by everything we do that we really are in this together.
I want to break every barrier that stands in the way of any American from getting ahead and staying ahead, i know that America can't live up to its potential unless every person in our country has a chance to live up to his or hers.
Break down the barriers to America and Americans live up to their potential. That is it, that's what I care about, that's what I've always done, that's what I'm talking about.
If everybody does it, and that includes the Republicans -- because we know they have made a lot of speeches.
Yes, I supported my husband's policies. My opponent, Sen. Sanders, voted for them, i did not have a position where I could express myself independently. He did.
I feel very supported by the large majority of the African-American community, i feel trusted by them.
She's got more experience. She knows what the country needs.
I know you do a hard job.
A lot of people are.
I am happy to release anything I have whenever everybody else does the same, because everybody in this race, including Senator Sanders, has given speeches to private groups.
The other thing I want to make a funny comment about is Steve Cohen’s remark that I was just a stand-in for the first black president, i’m happy to do that.
One of my favorite political ads of all time was a radio ad in rural Arkansas where the announcer said, 'Wouldn't it be great if somebody running for office said something, we could have an immediate reaction to whether it was true or not. Well, we have trained this dog. Well, the dog, if it is not true, he is going to bark,' and the dog was barking on the radio and so people were barking at each other for days after that.
I want to figure out how we can do that with Republicans. We need to get that dog and follow them around and every time they say these things like, 'Oh, the Great Recession was caused by too much regulation,' arh, arh, arh, arh, i think.
(Republicans) actually, with a straight face, say that the great recession was caused by too much regulation on Wall Street. They actually say that.
Sometimes when I am on a stage like this, I wish that we weren't married, then I could say what I really think, i don't mean that in a negative way. I am happy.
I pledge a new and comprehensive commitment to equity and opportunity for communities of color. That means reforming our criminal justice system and rebuilding the bonds of trust between our communities and our law enforcement officials, but it also means making major new investments to create jobs, to make it easier to start and grow a small business, to end redlining in housing, and to build reliable public transit systems.
When you're making a revolution, you can't be too careful with the facts.
I'm running for president, everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion -- so you can do more than just get by -- you can get ahead.
It is not whether you get knocked down, it is whether you get back up, and I have gotten back up time and time and time again because I believe that we all have an opportunity to try to keep going and to help others along the way.
Although we weren't able to shatter that highest, hardest glass ceiling this time, thanks to you, it's got about 18 million cracks in it.
I know I have some work to do, particularly with young people, but I will repeat again what I have said this week: Even if they are not supporting me now, I support them.
Go out there and talk to young people. She'd be way better for them.
This is very much like Benghazi, George, the Republicans will continue to use it, beat up on me. I understand that. That’s the way they are.
She and other people who have gone online to defend Hillary and explain -- just explain -- why they supported her have been subject to vicious trolling and attacks that are literally too profane often, not to mention sexist, to repeat.
I have no idea what they're talking about or who they are talking to, we're going to take stock, but it's going to be the campaign that I've got. I'm very confident in the people that I have. I'm very committed to them, they're committed to doing the best we can.
They are supporting me because they know me, they know my opponent, too, that is absolutely true.
I haven't just talked, I haven't just given speeches, I have introduced legislation. I have called them out, there is nothing wrong with that. It hasn't changed (Sanders') view.
We need to not try to let people say everybody who is not for me is in the establishment, i grew up in a crazy age where we loved to have arguments but they were fact based and we discussed things. That is what democracy is.
I believe that so much of the anger, the insecurity, the fear and worry that people feel now about the economy, about our prospects, about what is going to happen to young people coming out of college with debt, or unable to find a job that really gives them the best possibly opportunities is related to the choices that were made starting in the Bush administration, when I think about what young people today have gone through, what they have known from our country, starting with a horrible attack on 9/11, going into the great recession, there is no wonder that they along with so many of us are saying, wait a minute, we are better than this, we can do more.
There is nothing wrong with that. It hasn't changed (Sanders') view.
When I think about what young people today have gone through, what they have known from our country, starting with a horrible attack on 9/11, going into the great recession, there is no wonder that they along with so many of us are saying, wait a minute, we are better than this, we can do more.
The New Hampshire I campaigned in really cared that you knew what you were doing, and how it was paid for, for 20 years, Hillary’s opponent had a different plan, which he called single player but it’s really 51 payer as states have to pay 14 percent of it.
When you’re making a revolution, you can’t be too careful about the facts.
We can’t get in a place where we’re so mad that we demonize anyone who is against us, where we can’t have an honest discussion about health care, where anyone who is on the other side is part of a mystical ‘establishment,’.
People who have gone online to defend Hillary and explain why they supported her, have been subject to attacks that are literally too profane often, not to mention sexist, to repeat.
For 20 years, Hillary’s opponent had a different plan, which he called single player but it’s really 51 payer as states have to pay 14 percent of it.
Is [that] good for America? I don’t think so.
For those of you who are still deciding, still shopping, I hope I can close the deal.
She and other people who have gone online to defend Hillary and explain -- just explain -- why they supported her have been subject to vicious trolling and attacks that are literally too profane often -- not to mention sexist -- to repeat.
So I did go to work on behalf of all these women's groups and children's groups because they needed a champion, it had nothing to do with any money whatsoever. And I resent deeply any effort by the Sanders campaign to so imply.
This is one of these innuendo insinuation charges that the Sanders campaign is engaging in.
That's what they offered.
Time and time again, by innuendo, by insinuation, there is this attack that he is putting forth which really comes down to, you know, anybody who ever took donations or speaking fees from any interest group has to be bought. And I just absolutely reject that, senator, and I really don't think these kinds of attacks by insinuation are worthy of you. And enough is enough.
A progressive is someone who makes progress.
I'm fighting for people that cannot make those changes and I'm not making promises that I cannot keep.
I may not have done the job I should in explaining my record.
The top 5 percent [of working Americans] actually did slightly better under President Reagan than me, everybody else did better in the 1990s. …. Listen to this, the bottom 20 percent, their incomes increased … 23.6 percent.
I really care about what he says about other people, who don't have the voice and the platform, you know, what is he talking about? Why is he doing this?
You know, what is he talking about? Why is he doing this?
It is important if you are in this position to not have feelings about that except that you are trying to help people, that's what drives her.
It is very important to me. I am a person of faith. I am Christian. I am a Methodist.
That's what drives her.
They throw all this stuff at me, and I'm still standing.
He said, you know, you don't get to pick the issues you work on as president.
All they are doing now, as they should be doing, is talking about the differences in their positions, that is good. That is healthy.
You know my daughter was asked a question about the relative health care. It's what she does for a living. She teaches public health, she's actually read the plans. And there's nothing wrong with what she did. She answered a question. And that's what New Hampshire's about, answering voters' questions.
Don't talk to me about standing up to corporate interests and big powers.
It could be that the inevitable candidate for the Democratic nomination may not be so inevitable today.
I have much more experience doing it. At the end of the day, you have to build those relations and consistently be looking for common ground.
That is not what I want and that is not what the country wants and that is no what President Obama called for, i think he has been consistently refusing to say that he would vote to repeal this absolute immunity from any kind of responsibly or liability.
If he wants to engage in personal attacks from the past, that is his prerogative. You know, so be it.
If he wants to engage in personal attacks from the past, that's his prerogative. You know -- so be it, i'm going to draw distinctions between where I stand and where he stands when it comes to equal pay for women, raising the minimum wage ... protecting a woman's right to make the most personal health care decisions.
Think hard about the people who are presenting themselves to you, their experience, their qualifications, their positions. And particularly for those of us who are Democrats, their electability, and how we make sure we have a Democrat going back into that White House on January 20, 2017.
When it really mattered, Senator Sanders voted with the gun lobby and I voted against the gun lobby.
You know, after January I'm available for babysitting duties, right Goodbye Bill, we'll put you down on the babysitting list now, mate.
As long as you don't parade around naked before the bath. You're too young and too trim.
Tony Blair wanted to see America as a partner, I think.
I told him to go to Saddam Hussein, call him and tell him that I have no interest in killing him or hunting him down. I'm not fooling with him. I just don't want his chemical and biological program going forward.
The Central Americans and the Caribbeans sound like a boys school argument. They ought to be thinking about making common cause and not pissing down each others' leg to see who has the biggest bananas.
We're going to increasingly have to deal with terrorists with no ties to any nation-state.
She's very happy. She called last night and we had a good talk. It's a three-hour difference, so she always calls late, but she knows I'm always up late.
Take care, friend, Bye.
I have no interest in getting involved in (Republican Party) politics or doing anything except working to help Hillary, donald Trump says a lot of things.
You are very rude, and I'm not ever going to call on you, thank you.
It used to be — and I was talking to President Obama about this the other day — it used to be that you would do an event like this and then you would shake hands with people and they would talk to you, they would say, 'I liked what you said about this' or 'You didn't mention that' or 'Can I tell you this?' And it was a constant learning and absorbing experience.
It certainly enhances the sense of responsibility I feel to try to make my case as effectively as possible, it's so contrary to what I think politics should be about, and the kind of people who should run for the most important job in the world. So I try not to be distracted by it or be knocked off course by it. But I do feel extra pressure when I hear some of what they say.
I thought she was the most amazing person, everything she touched, she made better.
Everything she touched, she made better.
I think this election is about restoring broadly shared prosperity, rebuilding the middle class.
I think it’s the best plan to have the most rapid movement toward broadly shared prosperity.
What happened there is a total myth and a mugging, i think that they played the race card on me.
Bill Clinton dismissed my victory in South Carolina as being similar to Jesse Jackson and Bill Clinton is suggesting that somehow I had something to do with it ? you better ask him what he meant by that. I have no idea what he meant. These were words that came out of his mouth. Not words that came out of mine.'' The Good Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, 2012 : The.
When Bill Clinton elect a president Bill Clinton have got to say,' Who is the person I think is most likely to keep big, bad things from happening and to make more good things happen ?' i don't think it is a terribly close question.
I have very strong feelings about this election, but this is not about the candidates. This about you and your future. It's about two very different approaches and which one is more likely to build a 21st century of the American dream.
I think that they played the race card on me.
Dale Bumpers was a governor of profound historical importance, the most eloquent defender of our constitution in the Senate, a man who put his considerable gifts of wisdom, wit, and passion to work for the common good, the entire state mourns the loss of an Arkansas legend.
You can't let people push you around, you can't let people tell lies!
It is a stretch, those of us who were there know that.
It is painful time for the whole world in the aftermath to what happened in Paris, the most important thing that happened was that our party said we are with them and we are going to work together to solve this problem and we can only solve it by working together.
You're too old, you can't see and you're a woman.
I was, frankly, posing as a white parent, even though I was a very young lawyer, who was going to be in the area in order to elicit information about what the real intentions were so we could put together a big dossier and submit it to the administration and the IRS to deny charitable exemptions for these segregated academies.
He looks at me and goes, 'Um, how old are you,' and I said, 'Well I am 26, I will be 27.' And he goes, 'Well, that is kind of old for us.' And then he says to me, and this is what gets me, 'Maybe the dogs will take you,' meaning the Army.
You're too old, you can't see and you're a woman, it was not a very encouraging conversation.
I'm fighting for you, i'm going to deliver.
Sometimes it is important.
When you elect a president you have got to say, 'Who is the person I think is most likely to keep big, bad things from happening and to make more good things happen?' i don't think it is a terribly close question.
There has been a lot of talk about breaking the glass ceiling, i am tired of the stranglehold that women have had on the job of presidential spouse.
The American people in the last six weeks have learned a lot about lot about Hillary, what she is for, why she is running and what kind of president she would be.
I believe that progress has been made, but there is more that needs to be done.
The Rachel Maddow Show.
As some of you may know, I had a pretty long day yesterday, i finally got to answer questions, something I have been pushing for literally a year and I am just grateful I recovered my voice, which I lost a little bit, but like I said at the start, I wanted to rise above partisanship and and reach for statesmanship.
I am confident that history isn't finished with Joe Biden, if I know Joe, he will be right there with us on the front lines.
If I know Joe, he will be right there with us on the front lines.
Joe Biden is a good man and a great Vice President, i am confident that history isn't finished with Joe Biden. As he said today, there is more work to do. And if I know Joe, he will always be on the front lines, always fighting for all of us.
You have helped change a lot of minds, including mine, and I am personally grateful for that.
Ben Carson says marriage equality is what caused the fall of the Roman Empire, ted Cruz slammed a political opponent for marching in a pride parade.
But I want you to know that I get it, i see the injustices and the dangers that you and your families still face. And I am running for president to end them once and for all.
I have been fighting alongside you and others for equal rights and I am just getting warmed up.
We’re going to take (the gun lobby) on, we took them on in the '90s. We’re going to take them on again.
What’s wrong with us that we can’t stand up to the NRA and the gun lobby?
Even the Republicans admit that the sanctions on Iran were well done, and that was a major achievement, to get Russia and China to agree to sign off on these sanctions and enforce them.
Well the thing about branding is, you don't have to be -- you can be fact-free.
And that was a major achievement, to get Russia and China to agree to sign off on these sanctions and enforce them.
The other party doesn't want to run against her. And if they do, they'd like her as mangled up as possible.
I actually am amazed that she's borne up under it as well as she has.
I think that there are lots of people who wanted there to be a race for different reasons. And they thought the only way they could make it a race was a full-scale frontal assault on her. And so this email thing became the biggest story in the world.
I'll give you an economic reason to vote for me: I'll build a wall around the Southern border of America and I'll stop buying Chinese imports so your incomes will go up.
I'm sure the other future debates will do it.
I have always cherished the Methodist Church because it gave us the great gift of personal salvation but also the great obligation of social gospel, and I took that very seriously and have tried, tried to be guided in my own life ever since as an advocate for children and families, for women and men around the world who are oppressed and persecuted, denied their human rights and human dignity.
The longer I live, the more places I go and people I meet, the more certain I am that everyone has gifts to be recognized and celebrated, together our contributions add up to something greater than we could offer on our own. Isn't that the goal of a community or a congregation?
The truth is there are so many people in this community, in our country, in our world who have so much to offer. Talent is universal, but opportunity is not. Too many people are held back by economic pressure and social barriers, there are still hard truths to face about race, gender and sexual orientation in America.
We just walked out of the White House followed by some bewildered secret service agents and made our way to church, and from that moment to this we have always felt so welcome.
So to my friends in the press.
And from that moment to this we have always felt so welcome.
You know, I get accused of being kind of moderate and center, i plead guilty.
Some people want it to be about everything other than what they would do when they are president, i think it really matters that people tell you what they will do and how they intend to do it, not just in broad stokes but in details. How are you the voters supposed to make up your minds?
I take a backseat to no one.
I think sometimes it's important when you are in the elected arena -- you try to figure out, how do you bring people together to get something done instead of just standing on the opposite sides yelling at each other.
Well, I want people to understand this, so I am glad you asked, i used a personal email account, I was allowed by the State Department. But I should have used two different accounts. I made a mistake and I am sorry for all the confusion that has ensued. I take responsibly for that.
I don't want any young woman to take for granted how far we have come and how much further we have to go.
I'm sorry about that.
The last debate, it just showed they were out of touch and out of date.
He actually has a good voice.
And [redacted] works for the fastest-growing college network in the world, Laureate Universities, started by Doug Becker who Bill likes a lot, it’s a for-profit model that should be represented.
You might not recall but [President] Obama sent Bill to North Korea to rescue journalists who were captured, every offer we made was rebuffed and we offered many people to go and finally North Koreans said if Bill comes, we will give him two journalists.
I did not send classified material, and I did not receive any material that was marked or designated classified.
You're going to have to come together as a movement and say, 'Here's what we want done about it,' because you can get lip service from as many white people as you can pack into Yankee Stadium.
Look, I don't believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change allocation of resources, you change the way the systems operate.
Whatever your issue, your cause, the festering problem you hoped would be resolved, the political class has failed you, that’s what Donald Trump has tapped into.
You know, he has been, believe it or not, uncommonly nice to Hillary and me -- he thought Hillary was a good senator for New York after 9/11, and he is actually one of the many Republicans who supported our foundation before they got the memo.
We will not tolerate attacks on United States citizens.
And (I) get really frustrated with people who don't understand what I think it's going to take to make our country great tomorrow just like we were yesterday.
Comments like this are offensive and they have no place in our political dialogue, it should be repudiated by every person of good faith and concern about the necessity to keep our political dialogue about the facts and within suitable boundaries.
The American people gave the Congress to a group of very conservative Republicans, when they passed bills with the veto-proof majority with a lot of Democrats voting for it, that I couldn't stop, all of a sudden we turn out to be maniacal deregulators. I mean, come on.
That awful act finally stirred all the members of NATO to support the military intervention that was clearly necessary.
Today, loved ones and total strangers from all over the world come here, and they can see that 6,000 men and boys are buried with more coming today.
We owe the people that sacrificed their lives here.
I think thisis interesting that you would ask me to come and speak today to a group ofpeople from all over the world, and everyone of you knows more about thesubject than I do.
We've got a lot of tough decisions to make, that's all I really care about -- besides I know who I would like to win.
I expect it to be vigorous, and whoever wins the primaries they'll have a hard debate, we ought to show respect for the debate by trying to be as specific as we can about the choices before us. We can win over the American public by saying it's not simple.
I've done it twice now, santa.
If the Oprah team want to come out here and one of our friends is willing to let us use their house out here this Monday, I would do that.
I think that anybody who is still really close to their best friend from grade schools is by definition trustworthy, the people who know, know that.
I think that the president's team could go to every one of these other parties and say, 'I know you understand the process of fast track. I want to get it, but I'm going to have to make some adjustments in order to get it. But if I get it, then we have to negotiate on the basis of those adjustments,' i think that is really worth trying.
I believe that you take whatever happens to you in a negotiation and you try to leverage it, in this case, I believe that one of the ways the president could get fast-track authority is to deal with the legitimate concerns of those Democrats who are potential 'yes' voters, to see what within the negotiation — or what's even in the existing framework agreement that is being drafted — could be modified or changed.
Do I agree with everything, no I don't, and I will be laying out of policies that I think build on what the President has done and what my husband has done.
I'm not angry at anybody, i am determined.
There is always room to maneuver, and I think this is one of those times.
No president would be a tougher negotiator on behalf of American workers, either with our trade partners or republicans on capitol hill than I would be.
Oh no, he has negotiated very hard.
I think he doesn't get the credit he deserves for a recovery that is taking hold.
I have held my peace because I thought it was important for the Congress to have a full debate without thrusting presidential politics and candidates into it, but now I think the president and his team could have the chance to drive a harder bargain.
Our drug companies, if they are going to get what they want, they should give more to America.
I believe we have made a decision now that will permit us to create an economic order in the world that will promote more growth, more equality, better preservation of the environment, and a greater possibility of world peace, we are on the verge of a global economic expansion that is sparked by the fact that the United States at this critical moment decided that we would compete, not retreat.
They loved each other very much, they had a bunch of kids, but they had big pockets of estrangement between them and pain, and they rendered enormous service to this country because they stuck with what they had in common.
He came from privilege, but he understood the aspirations of farmers and factory workers and forgotten Americans, his was an open, American spirit with a fine sense for the possible and a keen appreciation of the art of leadership. He was a master politician and a magnificent commander-in-chief.
She was pretty busy those years, i never saw her study a list of my contributors, and I had no idea who was doing business before the State Department.
America's always had to lobby for American-made airplanes, i don't think they (donated) to make the government like them better. We do like them better. All Americans are grateful that there are American jobs and businesses around the world.
I don't think they (donated) to make the government like them better. We do like them better. All Americans are grateful that there are American jobs and businesses around the world.
Nobody even suggested it or talked about it or thought about it until the political season began.
They'll all sing in the choir about how bad Hillary was, and it will be difficult for those who thought she was great when she was a secretary of state and went on record saying it.
There's a lot of them. It looks more like the Kentucky Derby than Belmont, i sympathize with the question of how the primary voters are going to decide who to vote for.
It may be harder this year than before to figure out who's the most electable candidate.
I predict that at some point during this process, whatever they're debating and whatever the stories are, there will be a move by people who think they can influence the process to settle on the one that's most electable.
If I did and I thought I knew who'd win, I probably still wouldn't say.
We have to get serious and creative about stemming the tide of drug overdoses and dependency.
Naloxone is a drug that can make a real difference.
This parade's not about that, this parade is about honoring those we've lost. That's what I want to keep focused on and make sure that we pay proper respect to our veterans and especially those who lost their lives.
It is a good way to remember our veterans and particularly those who gave their lives or were grievously injured, this is a way of demonstrating that they are not forgotten and we are going to continue doing everything we can to make sure we honor their sacrifice and commitment.
This parade is about honoring those we've lost. That's what I want to keep focused on and make sure that we pay proper respect to our veterans and especially those who lost their lives.
From time to time, as a private citizen and friend, I provided Secretary Clinton with material on a variety of topics that I thought she might find interesting or helpful, the reports I sent her came from sources I considered reliable. I have informed the House Select Committee on Benghazi that I will cooperate with its inquiry and look forward to answering the committee's questions.
I have said repeatedly I want those emails out, nobody has a bigger interest in getting them released than I do.
He's been a friend of mine for a long time. He sent me unsolicited emails, which I passed on in some instances, and that's just part of the give-and-take, when you're in the public eye, when you're in an official position, I think you do have to work to make sure you're not caught in a bubble and you only hear from a certain small group of people.
We should scrub all of our federal regulations to find responsible ways to make life easier to small businesses, i want to be a small business president.
Nobody has a bigger interest in getting them released than I do.
I'm going to keep talking to my old friends, whoever they are.
It's not the big banks that need relief from Washington. It's small banks and small businesses.
It is not a time for easy answers, for glib answers, or one liners, or applause lines, those are all great, that is part of campaigning, but at the end of the day, we need a president who has both the experience and the understanding to deal with the complexity of the problems we face.
First of all, Hillary has to win the nomination. If she wins the nomination, then she has to win the election, if she wins the election, the chances are 100 percent I move back ... If I'm asked.
We have been so fortunate. It's funny how perspective changes — I think having a grandchild made a big difference, i urge (Hillary Clinton) to go out there and have a good time, tell the American people what you wanted to do, explain what the challenges are from her point of view and what we should do, and just be grateful. We've had a wonderful life. And I'm grateful.
She is amazing now and if you met my granddaughter, first thing she would do is take your glasses off, her hands are working.
First of all, Hillary has to win the nomination. If she wins the nomination, then she has to win the election, if she wins the election, the chances are 100 percent I'll move back ... if I'm asked.
If she wins the election, the chances are 100 percent I'll move back ... if I'm asked.
There was no attempt to hide [donations], the guy that filled out the forms made an error. The guy put it on the wrong form … I can’t explain why they didn’t do it—all I can do is fix it.
We had a policy when she was secretary of state that we would only continue accepting money from people who were already giving us money.
The problem is the way it was written and implemented. We have too wide a net. We have too many people in prison. And we wound up spending - putting so many people in prison that there wasn’t enough money left to educate them, train them for new jobs and increase the chances when they came out that they could live productive lives.
There's just no evidence, even the guy that wrote the book apparently had to admit under questioning that we didn't have a shred of evidence for this, we just sort of thought we would throw it out there and see if it flies, and it won't fly.
Will said. Clinton's remarks came during an interview with NBC News in which the former president rejected the suggestion that the Clinton Foundation had violated rules by accepting foreign donations while his wife, Hillary Clinton, was secretary of state. There is no doubt in my mind that we have never done anything knowingly inappropriate in terms of taking money to influence any kind of American government policy.
Absolutely not, it's an acknowledgement that we're going to come as close as we can during her presidential campaign to following the rules we followed when she became secretary of state.
There has been a very deliberate attempt to take the foundation down, there’s almost no new fact that wasn’t known the first time she ran for president.
Oh yeah. I got to pay our bills.
There’s never been anything like the Clinton Global Initiative.
I gotta pay our bills, we do our best to vet them. And I have turned down a lot of them. If I think there's something wrong with it, I don't take it.
There is no doubt in my mind that we have never done anything knowingly inappropriate in terms of taking money to influence any kind of American government policy, that just hasn't happened.
I don't think there's anything sinister in trying to get wealthy people in countries that are seriously involved in development to spend their money wisely in a way that helps poor people and lifts them up.
There's been a very deliberate attempt to take the foundation down. And there's almost no new fact that wasn't known when she ran for president first time.
There is no doubt in my mind that we have never done anything knowingly inappropriate in terms of taking money to influence any kind of American government policy.
Since I turned it down, I don't need to talk about it.
It's an acknowledgment that we're going to come as close as we can during her presidential campaign to following the rules we followed when she became secretary of State.
There is something wrong when a third of all black men face the prospect of prison during their lifetimes.
There is something wrong when the trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve breaks down as far as it has in many of our communities.
Everyday Americans need a champion and I want to be that champion.
We need to build things, too, we have to do our part in making sure we have the capabilities and skills to be competitive.
We always expected that while Hillary Clinton focused on helping everyday Americans get ahead, the Republicans would focus on attacks rather than ideas, it appears that this book is being used to aid this coordinated attack strategy, twisting previously known facts into absurd conspiracy theories. It will not be the first work of partisan-fueled fiction about the Clintons' record, and we know it will not be the last.
For 20 years you have honored the memories of your loved ones, you have inspired us with the power of your renewal. You have reminded us that we should all live by the Oklahoma standard.
When you strip away all of the little things that divide us it is important to remember how tied we are and how much we -- all Americans -- owe Oklahoma City, for 20 years you have honored the memories of your loved ones.
Americans have fought back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top.
Hillary, isn't it crazy that phones can take videos now? I mean if they could have done that in the '90s, I'd be in jail.
I've told Hillary that I don't think I'm good [at campaigning] anymore because I'm not mad at anybody, i'm a grandfather, and I got to see my grand daughter last night, and I can't be mad.
First, I would have to assess what she wants me to do, and second, we might have to change the [foundation] rules again. But we haven't talked about that yet, and I don't think we should. You can't.
One of the biggest issues we face is income inequality combined with wage stagnation, they really go hand-in-hand. We don’t have enough good jobs, we don’t have people being placed into those jobs, we don’t have enough social mobility.
I shouldn't be making news on this.
You can have every email I've ever sent -- I've never sent one, i don't know what that makes me.
The UAE [United Arab Emirates] gave us money. Do we agree with everything they do? No. But they are helping us fight ISIS and they built a great university with NYU open to people around the world, do I agree with all the foreign policy of Saudi Arabia? No.
My theory about all this is disclose everything. And then let people make their judgments, i'm going to tell you who gave us money and you can make your own decisions.
I think it's a good thing, the UAE gave us money. Do we agree with everything they do? No. But they help us fight ISIS.
My theory is: disclose everything and let people make their judgments.
I don't know in my long life that I ever worked with anybody that has quite the combination of policy knowledge and concern, political skills, of a personal touch with people, and a sense of innate fairness that inspires confidence.
This is my life now, this foundation, and I have poured my heart into it for 14 years... It's my life now.
It was Mario Cuomo's great gift and our good fortune that he was both a sterling orator and a passionate public servant. His life was a blessing.
It's an issue that I've worked on and cared about my entire life. encyclopedia.
So I’m doing my bit now to encourage Hillary Clinton to run.
The fundamental problem you have anywhere is when people think their lives and the lives of their children don't matter, they they are somehow disposable, just like a paper napkin after a lunch at a restaurant or something, if we want our freedom to be in deed as well as word in America, we have to make people feel that everybody matters again.
I don't even know if she is going to run, but if she, sometime next year I think she will make a decision and announce it.
