Geoffrey Starks was nominated to serve as a Commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission by the President succeeding Mignon Clyburn who announced on April 19, 2018 that she was going to step down on June 6, 2018. Geoffrey was unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate on January 2, 2019. He was sworn into office on January 30, 2019.Previously, Starks was Assistant Bureau Chief in the FCC's Enforcement Bureau, where he focused on protecting consumers, promoting network security, and preserving the integrity of the Commission's Universal Service Fund programs.
