Quotes from the news wire:
I said yes, there was a lot of progress in 1800s are but something happened in 1895 when South Carolina came up with a new constitution that took away all of the rights that had been given to people of color. Now, we seem to be moving in the same direction. We’d better be careful. We’re talking about how much we have gained just because I’m sitting in Congress today does not mean there will be a 10th person.
At some point, I want to go to a rocking chair. At some point I want to have more time to play golf.

What I try to do is demonstrate by precept and example how we are to proceed as a party, when I spoke out against sloganeering, like ‘ burn, baby, burn ’ in the 1960s and ‘ defund the police,' which I think is cutting the throats of the party, I know exactly where my constituents are. They are against that, and I ’m against that.
