Quotes from the news wire:
Words alone can not express the outrage, hurt, and sadness that all of us feel. Dedicated, passionate, and driven -- Tiffany Fletcher was just doing Tiffany Fletcher job outside Mill Creek Rec Center in West Philadelphia when -- in a brazen and unconscionable act of violence -- she was struck by crossfire in the middle of the day.
You don't know the circumstances of each and every family, and maybe there were relatives and family that needed to be sheltered, obviously, the tragedy happened, and we all mourn for it. But we can't make judgment on the number of people living in the house because sometimes people just need to be indoors.
I recognize that this is a very difficult time for the family of Walter Wallace Jr., Walter Wallace Jr. and for the entire city of Philadelphia. The killing of Mr. Walter Wallace Jr., Walter Wallace Jr. was painful and traumatic for many Philadelphians. This tragic and unsettling incident, along with last year's protests, underscored the urgency of many important reforms such as mental health training and crisis response resources. For nearly fifteen months, the City of Philadelphia has had restrictions in place to protect each other, and I have no doubt that these restrictions saved countless lives, but Friday will be a day that we've all been looking forward to : getting back to doing the things that we love. And he's dividing people again, and he's making a dangerous situation, even worse, and we're prepared to fight in court in every way possible to keep that from happening in Philadelphia.

I had the opportunity to speak to the six officers, they're all in good spirits and obviously it was a very traumatic experience for them, i was talking to one of the officers who had the graze wound to the head and he had two little boys -- they looked like they were 9 or 10 years old, 8 or 9 years old -- and kept on thinking about how their lives would have changed with just a little more difference in space.
And if the state and federal government don't want to stand up to the NRA and some other folks, then let us, let us police ourselves. But they preempt us on all kinds of gun control legislation, our officers deserve to be protected and don't deserve to be shot at by a guy for hours with an unlimited supply of weapons and an unlimited supply of bullets.
This was an incident that evoked a lot of pain in our City, pain that would've resurfaced over and over again in protracted litigation, which presents significant legal risks and high financial and emotional costs for everyone involved.
