I travel all across Pennsylvania, rural, urban, suburban districts, i hear about folks wanting to make sure their kids get a good quality education, their communities are safe, that we can actually grow our economy and cut costs, and that we can protect our fundamental freedoms, whether it's the right to vote or the right to be able to make decisions over your own body.
First and foremost, the good people of Pennsylvania have a right to both be safe in their communities and also to feel safe in their communities, we have a number of ways we're going to do that. First, as governor, I am going to hire more than 2,000 police officers for the Commonwealth. We have too many areas that don't have adequate policing.
I can tell you it's on people's minds, Republicans and Democrats, a group of Republican women hosted it for me [and] told me they'd never voted for a Democrat before. But because of the Dobbs decision, because of the fact that they felt the Supreme Court took away a right and that my opponent is just so dangerous and extreme on this issue — I mean, by far the most extreme in the nation, leaves no room for exceptions — they felt that it was time to cross party lines and support me.
I think it's important that we treat all Pennsylvanians with respect, all Americans with respect, i recognize that in a commonwealth of 13 million people, not everybody's going to vote for me. I may not be everybody's cup of tea, but the bottom line is, it's my responsibility now as attorney general, and God willing as the next governor, to represent all 13 million people, to treat folks with respect, to bring people together, to recognize that there may be an issue we have profound disagreement on, but then there may be another issue where we can find some common ground and work together.
The reason why I raise the points about freedom... is because Josh Shapiro has made this notion of freedom central to Josh Shapiro campaign, to me, it is a complete farce because what Josh Shapiro's really doing is saying,' I, Doug Mastriano, will define freedom on my terms and force you to live under those terms.'.
What I hear from people is kind of all of the above and that is, they're worried about their kids' schools, they're worried about public safety, they're worried about the economy. And I spend a great deal of time talking about that, but they also kind of instinctively understand that the foundation for the work we need to do on all of that rests with making sure we've got a free election, where when you pick candidate A or candidate B, your vote actually counts.
Ghost guns are quickly becoming the weapon of choice for criminals and fueling the gun violence epidemic, these DIY gun kits should be subject to the same background checks and qualifications as fully functioning firearms to prevent criminals who are not legally able to purchase or possess guns from getting their hands on these deadly, untraceable weapons.
Although two legal audits have already been completed in Pennsylvania, Senator Mastriano is now requesting a laundry list of confidential and privileged information from three Pennsylvania counties in continued efforts to pay homage to former President Donald Trump and further spread misinformation about our elections.
We'll have to wait and see exactly what Unites States Attorney Freed and the FBI and the local district attorney came up with, but I think that should give the public confidence in knowing that all of us in law enforcement are doing our job to make sure that legal, eligible votes are counted.

Purdue ignored the safety of Pennsylvanians, some of whom died as a result of the illegal and suspicious prescriptions written by these doctors. Purdue took full advantage of the situation. They targeted doctors with unsavory practices, they lied to sell more drugs, and as a result, they pumped our commonwealth with as much Oxy as possible.
We have to stand up and say that we're going to put people before powerful institutions, that we are not going to let -- whether it's the church, or some university, or Hollywood, or politics or business community -- ever put their particular interests above the needs of those that they are supposed to represent and care for.
The grand jury ultimately found thousands of children who were abused by 301 predator priests and a systematic cover-up by church leaders that stretched all the way to the Vatican. It was something that we simply couldn't walk away from, it breaks my heart that they have prioritized the reputation of their institution over the needs of these children.
There is a reckoning going on in this country right now, we have to stand up and say that we're going to put people before powerful institutions, that we are not going to let -- whether it's the church, or some university, or Hollywood, or politics or business community -- ever put their particular interests above the needs of those that they are supposed to represent and care for.
A comprehensive investigation by the Office of Attorney General found widespread sexual abuse of children and a systematic coverup by leaders of the Catholic Church.
