We may call this a strategic competition, but it’s not a tennis match. This is about what type of world we want to live in. Do we want to live in Xinjiang-lite or do we want to live in the free world?

Think about the absurdity of that — in many cases, we are relying on China for the things that we put in our weapons systems that we might need in a future war with China.

I believe time is not on our side and that we have entered the window of maximum danger.

But you have some of this tension because there is a substantial portion of the administration that actually believes that climate change is our biggest existential threat.

We do not want this to be a Republican-only effort, we want Democrats to participate and we want them to appoint serious, sober members as well.

I think the White House is divided, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs will say China is our biggest short-term, near-term, long-term threat.

Earlier this week, President Biden claimed that the pandemic was over. It seems everyone but Speaker Pelosi agrees. by extending proxy voting, Speaker Pelosi continues to allow members to forgo the most important component of their job — voting — and lie to their constituents in the process. The day when Republicans take back the House and eliminate this unconstitutional and unethical practice can’t come soon enough.

There's more air defense weapons we can give them. We're talking about transferring the Switchblade 300 system, i think we still do a ton in order to give him what he needs to make this extremely difficult for the Russians and force them to back down, even if we don't go so far as to impose a no-fly zone.

We originally got the authorization passed, and then we got the bill passed that authorizes a place on the Mall. Now, we have to do the hard work of continuing to raise money and to make sure that the project moves forward, as you can see, it's a great group of veterans, people who have been involved in the legislative process. And I think it's a testament that it's been truly a bipartisan effort.

That could be a productive thing to come out of the discussion tomorrow, if he calls for it, and we can all kind of game it out, maybe there's a productive path forward. … Maybe it's too late just because the Biden administration took it off the table… Certainly, if Zelenskyy delivers an inspiring address, maybe there will be more enthusiasm for more creative ways we can support him going forward.

When the dust settles, despite the very real bravery on display by the Ukrainian people, deterrence in this case failed. The Biden Administration thought that sanctions and tweets would be enough to deter, but they failed to apply the kind of hard power that would have deterred Putin from launching this war in the first place. By the way, a war that could still escalate and involve us at any moment.

Because of the bravery of the Ukrainian people, President Biden was giving something you rarely get in geopolitics: a second chance. But if he signs this deal, if he signs this instrument of simultaneous surrender to Iran, Russia, and China, he will squander the second chance and America will suffer in the process, it’s like giving Putin the pistol to point at our heads to hold us hostage. It makes absolutely no sense and again, it undermines everything that President Biden promised with respect to Vladimir Putin.

And I think it should serve as a reminder that authoritarian countries with leaders who have no checks and balances like Russia and China and leaders who think human life is cheap can launch invasions that seem impossible for us to imagine, if the Biden Administration is wedded to this approach that they are calling integrated deterrence, which is just liberal code for cutting hard power, I fear deterrence will fail again in a bigger stage which is the conflict over Taiwan.

When questioned by the House Armed Services Committee in June, Secretary Austin could not define 'extremism’, these rules are ill-defined, could easily be abused, and will have the practical effect of further politicizing the force at a time when polls indicate confidence in the military is plummeting at an unprecedented rate.

I think the most poorly understood aspect of our competition with China is the way in which the Chinese Communist Party uses the United Front Work [Department] in order to influence diaspora populations around the world, the American population directly … it goes back to the founding of the party it's coded into. And it's just been my observation that we have a poor understanding of how they operate in that space, and I think American universities are one of the softest targets for Chinese United Front Work.

Since Biden took office on Jan. 20, the number of reported foreign gifts has absolutely plummeted, american universities have reported just over $4 million in donations. That's a tiny number. The math doesn't add up. And making matters worse, it appears that the Biden administration has not launched even one new investigation into foreign funding in universities. So, in my mind, that leaves us with two scenarios: either spigots for foreign gifts were turned off, or the Biden administration is giving universities a pass, directly violating federal law, and in the process, allowing the Chinese Communist Party free reign to influence American academia without any transparency.

At a minimum we need to reduce if not eliminate entirely their influence over the World Health Organization – the way in which they're blocking Taiwan from participating in the World Health Organization – that would be sort of the minimum criteria, there's another debate about whether you could create a legal construct to hold the CCP accountable for the billions if not trillions of dollars of damages that they've caused through their malfeasance.
