Rabia Balkhi

R?bi'a bint Ka'b al-Quzd?r? (Persian: ????? ??? ????), popularly known as R?bi'a Balkh? (????? ????) and Zayn al-'Arab (??? ?????), was a Persian writer and poet from the city of Balkh, and possibly the first woman poet in the history of New Persian poetry. References to her can be found in the poetry of R?dak? and 'Att?r. Her biography has been primarily recorded by Z?hir ud-D?n 'Awf? and renarrated by N?r ad-D?n Dj?m?. The exact dates of her birth and death are unknown, but it is reported that she was a native of Balkh in Khor?s?n (present-day Afghanistan). Some evidences indicate that she lived during the same period as R?dak?, the court poet to the Samanid Emir Na?r II (914-943).
