Wolfenstein: The Old Blood

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is an action-adventure first-person shooter video game developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks. It was released on 5 May 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is a stand-alone title in the Wolfenstein series and a prequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order, set in an alternate-history 1946. The single-player story follows war veteran William "B.J." Blazkowicz and his efforts to discover the locations of a Nazi compound. Development began in 2014, soon after the release of The New Order. The game is played from a first-person perspective and its levels are navigated on foot. The story is arranged in chapters which players complete in order to progress, separated into two interconnected campaigns. The game features a variety of weapons, including pistols, shotguns, and explosives, most of which can be dual wielded. A cover system is also present; players lean in and out of cover instead of the more common system where players lock into cover. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood received generally positive reviews. Many critics praised the game's intense firefights, intriguing locations, and the balance between stealth and action. Many critics disliked the game's story, however, with most reviewers saying that it was the weakest part of the game and a step back compared to The New Order's story, which was highly complimented.

I hope you don't mind the weight of the world on your shoulders, Agent Blazkowicz.

William 'B.J.' Blazkowicz:
I've got pretty solid shoulders, Agent One.

Agent One:
Well. We're losing the bloody war.

William 'B.J.' Blazkowicz:
Nobody told me.

Agent One:
HQ has put a tight lid on it. General Deathshead is manufacturing unstoppable killing machines in a secret compound. One of his lieutenants, Helga von Schabbs, is keeping the folder mentioned in your mission briefing at her base of operations - Castle Wolfenstein. This folder contains the location of Deathshead's compound. Could be our last chance, this. Before the Nazis wipe out all that's good in this world.

William 'B.J.' Blazkowicz:
America would never fold.

Agent One:
Alright, here's the checkpoint. Remember your cover - Commander Franz. Nazi bastard from the SS in Frankfurt.

Enemy Soldier:
[in German] Papers, please.

Agent One:
[in German] Here.

Enemy Soldier:
[in German] Drive up to the checkpoint, over there, and show them your papers.

Agent One:
[in German] Thank you. Goodbye. [in English] You and me, Blazkowicz. We're good team. We can do this. Okay look. Your German? Frankly it's atrocious. So, no talking and keep your gun holstered for as long as you can. The papers Kesler prepared for you are in the glove box. There. Okay. Let's go. And remember. Stay focused, stay quiet... and follow me, right?
