A Pup Named Scooby-Doo

A Pup Named Scooby-Doo is an American animated mystery comedy series produced by Hanna-Barbera. It is the eighth incarnation of the studio's Scooby-Doo franchise, and depicts juvenile versions of the title character and his human companions as they solve mysteries, similarly to the original Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! television series. The series was developed by Tom Ruegger and premiered on September 10, 1988, airing for four seasons on ABC as well as during the syndicated block The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera until August 17, 1991. Ruegger, along with most of Hanna-Barbera's production staff, departed from the studio after the first season. A Pup Named Scooby-Doo is the final television series in the franchise in which Don Messick portrayed Scooby-Doo before his death in 1997, and one of the few in the franchise in which someone other than Frank Welker voiced the character of Fred Jones (child actor Carl Steven took on the role for this series; Welker voiced other bit roles in the series, including as Fred's uncle). Messick and Casey Kasem, the latter of whom voiced Shaggy Rogers, were the only two voice actors from other Scooby-Doo series to reprise their roles, and both received starring credits for their work.

Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers:
[the gang is trapped in a net by Big Wig] Somebody do something!

Velma Dinkey:
[opens her blue bag] Hmm. [takes out a small phial of liquid] Nitro glycerin. [takes out a laser gun type object] Laser beam. Aha! [takes out a spray can]

Freddy Jones:
What is it, Velma?

Velma Dinkey:
Hair remover.

Big Wig:
[mortified] No, not that! [drops the net and the gang and runs away]

Manny the Maul:
[banging on the front door] I want my loot!

The Babysitter:
[banging on a window] I want that baby!

Boogidy-Bones:
[banging on cellar door] [1st head] I [2nd head] want [3rd head] in!

Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers:
[cowering in the dark behind a chair] [whining] Oh-oh I want my Mommie!

[repeated line]

Norville 'Shaggy' Rogers:
[shouting] Scooby Doo! Where are you?

[repeated line]

Scooby Doo:
[after someone makes a joke] [Laughs, but stops and looks confused] I don't get it.

Freddy Jones:
[starting on one of his crazy theories] It all started when the Martians came down from Venus to kidnap Big Foot...

Shaggy:
[opening lines] Like, this is the city, Coolsville, USA. Every day at dawn, The Daily Babbler newspaper truck pulls up tp my house. And Mr. Conrad tosses out a big pile of newspapers. You see, I have a paper route to deliver, so I always wake up early. Well, almost always. And whenever I oversleep, I get woken up by my own personal alarm clock: A Pup Named Scooby-Doo!
