[first lines]

Gary:
Hey, how 'bout letting an old-timer sit in tonight?

Megan:
And then what happened?

Andy:
What happens is, this isn't a story, is it?

Quinn:
What?

Tucker:
[the group stare at Gary; he stands] Yeah, this is a story. A true story.

Andy:
You forgot something.

Gary:
What?

Andy:
The story needs a title.

Gary:
[chuckling reaching for the pouch] Yeah. I haven't done this in a while... Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, I call this story - [the fire goes out] Whoa.

Quinn:
That's kind of not normal.

Quinn:
Have come you don't have a "Beware of Dog" sign out front?

Vince:
'Cause I ain't got no dog.

Quinn:
This is 33 Cowell Street, right?

Vince:
Look, kid, I've got every piece of junk made in the last fifty years. But I'm fresh out of people.

Quinn:
Uh, see, I'm part of this club and we're lookin' for all the old members. It's cool, really, we're not tryin' to make any trouble.

Vince:
You talkin' about that Midnight Society something-or-other?

Quinn:
Yeah, that's it. Unless that's a bad thing; then I'm not.

Megan:
I wore my best outfit because I thought I'd be visiting some really nice house. I hadn't planned on being in a really *strange* house.

Vince:
So, uh, how'd you get this address?

Quinn:
Uh, talked to people, you know?

Vince:
Oh. Smart kid, huh?

Quinn:
Depends.

Vince:
On what?

Quinn:
On if you know Tilton.

Quinn:
That's it! That's the record!

Vince:
[Quinn reaches but he hesitates] Oh, no. It's the only thing I've got left of Donna's.

Quinn:
But I gotta have it.

Vince:
What for?

Quinn:
Because I gotta find this Silver Sight thing and destroy it. If it's still hurting people, I mean, maybe you oughta help me out.

Mr. Gregory:
The Gregory empire will rise from the ashes and be back on top again! [laughs maniacally with his wife]

Megan:
How?

Mr. Gregory:
I don't know. I'm working on it.

Jim Gregory:
We're not as weird as you think. A-at least *I'm* not.

Megan:
Why would you help me?

Jim Gregory:
You think I *like* living in the sewer? If destroying the Silver Sight'll get us out of here, then I'll do whatever it takes. I wouldn't mind seeing the sun again.

Quinn:
What's with that smell?

Vange:
Megan's been in the sewer.

Quinn:
Nah, it smells more like bad perfume.

Megan:
That's it. If anyone wants me, I'll be hanging with the stinky mole people.

Waif Kid:
Hello, Quinn.

Quinn:
Hey. My name's - wait. How'd you know my name?

Quinn:
Hey, yo - Weird Little Kid!

Waif Kid:
If you keep going, you'll look like that picture.

Quinn:
Say what? [the sketch of Donna transforms into a skull]

Megan:
Are you - Liang Candle!

General Laing Candle:
*General* Liang Candle.

General Laing Candle:
None of your business.

Megan:
I can make you tell me.

General Laing Candle:
What're you gonna do, run me over?

Megan:
Perhaps.

Waif Kid:
Leave the Silver Sight alone. Or you might go hurt. [vanishes leaving Megan in the path of the oncoming train]

Bob McGorrill:
My brother was a good person. A long time ago he took something terrible, and hid it, so his friends wouldn't get hurt.I don't know what it was. But I think it had something to do with his death. You still want this?

Vange:
Not really.

Andy:
Yes, we do.

Andy:
[lowering her into the well] Are you OK?

Vange:
If you are.

Vange:
[a rumbling sounds] Was that your stomach?

Andy:
Give me a break!

Gary:
We've uncovered a long trail of terror and sadness. Let's hope this ends it.

Waif Kid:
And now, the Silver Sight is yours.

Gary:
All right, then... tell me what it is.

Waif Kid:
Don't you know? It's the power to conquer. Armies have won wars with it. Kingdoms have toppled, cities have fallen. And now, it's all yours.

Quinn:
Uh, we're not exactly at war with anyone.

Waif Kid:
Sure you are. Everybody has enemies. A mean parent, a bad teacher, a bully - anyone who stands in between you and what you want. Just tell the Silver Sight and poof! They're gone forever!

Gary:
And who are you?

Waif Kid:
I'm here to help you along.

General Laing Candle:
Put that thing down, son. You're playing with fire.

Gary:
Why should we listen to you?

General Laing Candle:
He's not trying to help you, Gary.

Gary:
No? Then what is he doing?

General Laing Candle:
He is a demon that's collecting souls. That thing may get rid of your enemies for you, but their souls end up trapped forever in that vicious little charm!

Gary:
What happened to my grandfather?

General Laing Candle:
He was a good man. He tried to find the Silver Sight and destroy it. He got scared. His heart couldn't take it. I think he got too close. He got burned by that demon!
