Jonny Quest:

Hadji:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
He's as tall as he'll ever be. He's a pygmy. Cut him loose, Jonny.

Jonny Quest:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
No use. He's gone. We'd better do the same and fast. Whoever put that fella out for cat food might come back, and we better not be here then.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Hold still, Hadji. He won't hurt you. It's our friend who was put out for cat food.

Hadji:
Boy. He has me worried when I saw that knife.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Helicopters! That's what chased our little friends off!

Hadji:
But they're a long way off. They could miss seeing us.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yeah, you're right. If we only had something to signal with. Hadji, lend me that ruby of yours.

Hadji:
You can have anything I have, but why my ruby?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
We're gonna try to attract their attention.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Say, um, why were you coming to see me, anyway? I would've been back in a few days.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, this came in the mail. It looked important.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Mmm. Yes, it does look important.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[reading the letter] Oh, no!

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Bad news, Doctor?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[chuckling] Anything but, Race. It's a form letter from the African Geographical Society asking me if I would be interested in participating in a round table discussion on the following subject... Are you ready?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
FIre away, Doctor.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
"Are pygmies warm and friendly people - yes or no."

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Pygmies "friendly?"

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon, Jonny Quest, Hadji:
NOOOO!

Bandit:
Arf! Arf! Arf!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[laughing] I think I'll send all of you and let you argue the no side. You'll win hands down.

Sacrificial Native:
[rescued from a panther] Loka tarusa. Loka tarusa.

Jonny Quest:
That must mean thank you.

Hadji:
Sim sim salabim.

Jonny Quest:
Race, do you really think they'll track us?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I'm sure of it, Jonny. Take a look down by the river. There's your answer.

Jonny Quest:
Gosh, it didn't take 'em long.

Pygmy Chief:
[at the river] Gohta komsi. Komsi gohta!

Hadji:
Look! They sniff the ground like dogs.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
They're the best trackers in the world, Hadji.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Could we run that video tape again, Professor?

Professor:
Of course, Dr. Quest. Now notice, Doctor, this is the point at which our missile began to veer. At the same time, the destruction mechanism failed to activate. We lost sight of it completely. No mater how many times I run the tape, I still don't understand it.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Neither do I, but I'll take a guess: It's got to be either a malfunction, tampering, or an outside force taking over the controls of our missile. Well, let's hope we learn the answers after I reach the crash point.

Professor:
Dr. Quest, there could be others trying to reach our missile before you.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Well, that possibility has already occurred to me, Professor.

Hadji:
Your teeth are too sharp, little one.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Now, if there WAS tampering...

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Well, Race, it would explain the failure of the destruction mechanism.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Which could only mean one thing.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Whoever they are, they want that missile intact.

Jonny Quest:
GET OFF THE ROAD, YOU ROAD HOG!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Take a look. The destruction activator has been cut through.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
So that's how they downed the missile intact, then they could pick up your newest directional system.

Submarine Commander:
Precisely why we are here.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Ohh... The villain.

Submarine Commander:
Hardly villains. Merely interested neutral observers.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Who do a little equipment-snatching on the side.

Baddie:
It would be better for that animal if you keep it quiet, too.

Jonny Quest:
You can't blame him. He knows a couple o' skunks when he smells 'em.

Hadji:
Bandit, I do tricks. Look. What is this in your ear? Sim sim salabim. A dog biscuit.

Jonny Quest:
Good work, Hadji. Looks like we're forgiven.

Jonny Quest:
Hey, Haj, look over there. Someone goofed. They brought the airplane but they forgot the wings.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[chuckling] It's not an airplane, Jonny. It's a snow skimmer. We'll use it for fast trips back to the ship. It'll do over a hundred miles an hour.

Jonny Quest:
That means... we don't get to use a dogsled?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Not this trip, son.

Jonny Quest:
Aw, too bad, Bandit. We were gonna put you to work. Come on, boy. Mush! Mush, Bandit, mush! Looks like I used the right word with him. He ACTS just like a bowl of mush.

Jonny Quest:
Hey, Hadji, you ever have a feeling somebody was staring over your shoulder at you?

Hadji:
Not lately. Why?

Jonny Quest:
I have it now.

Hadji:
You're imagining, Jonny.

Jonny Quest:
Maybe, but... Do you hear anything?

Hadji:
No, Jonny. I don't hear a thing.

Jonny Quest:
I can't help feeling we've got company.

Jonny Quest:
[being carried along by apes swinging through trees] I just hope none of these guys have butterfingers.

Hadji:
What happened to our ape friends? Where did they go?

Jonny Quest:
I dunno. Maybe it was time for their coffee break or something.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I certainly can't expect you to search all day, Captain. You have your ship's cargo to think about.

Ship Captain:
I, too, am a father, Dr. Quest. We will search a while longer and continue to broadcast the S.O.S.

Hadji:
Don't fight it, Jonny. They love us.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Well, Race, which way?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, if these tracks mean anything, they lead straight into the jungle.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
That's the boys, all right. Still doing things the hard way.

Silky:
You'll never learn to use your blooming head, will ya? You want to rile them apes? They could tear us apart limb from limb. We got to sneak up on 'em.

Chopper:
Maybe we ought to just claim the reward.

Silky:
Chicken feed. That Dr. Quest will pay a fortune to get him back in one piece. Ransom, Chopper. That's the ticket. Ransom money!

Silky:
[threateningly] Go ahead, chum. I ain't had enough target practice today.

Silky:
Now, I've got your brats and you've got a lot of lovely money. Why don't we trade?

Jonny Quest:
Chopper said their camp was over this way.

Hadji:
Too bad Hoo-Hoo ruined the rifle.

Jonny Quest:
[confronted by apes going "hoo-hoo"] Who? Me Jonny. Him Hadji.

Hadji:
Remind me to laugh if we get out of this in one piece.

[unbeknownst to Jonny and Hadji, Silky and Chopper are trying to abduct them but the apes are running interference with skillful ease]

Jonny Quest:
What's all the activity? These monkeys are swingin' all over the place.

Hadji:
I don't know, Jonny. Maybe it's some kind of game they're playing.

Jonny Quest:
[momentarily unconscious] Yeah, wha-wha... Where am I?

Chopper:
The World's Fair, chum, and I'm your ruddy guide. Now, on your feet.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
How long do you intend to keep us tied up here?

Silky:
When my partner gets back, I'll leave for the airport and the money. Don't be impatient out there. Think what a nice suntan your gettin'.

Jonny Quest:
That's not man's best friend. That's man's best pest.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Let him go, Jonny. He just saved my life.

Jonny Quest:
[sitting atop Hadji] Yeah, Dad, but I don't trust him.

Hadji:
It is well you do not.

Jonny Quest:
[fining himself being thrown across the square] HEY!

Hadji:
Now we are even.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
But why the attack, Doctor?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
It's simple, Race. Recently, sheep herders in the mountains have been stricken by a mysterious ailment. Symptoms indicate the use of nerve gas. I've been asked to investigate. Obviously, someone wants to stop me.

Hadji:
One thing I tell you: this is no way to get to America.

Hadji:
Wait! That is not an enemy! That is Pasha Peddler.

Jonny Quest:
Pasha Peddler?

Hadji:
My old and venerable friend.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
In a helicopter?

Hadji:
Being old and venerable, he is wise to the ways of the world. You will see.

Pasha Peddler:
Hadji, baby!

Pasha Peddler:
Non-scheduled landings cost twenty-five clams; but, because you're sticking your necks out for my people, I'm gonna cut my landing fee ten bucks.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Thank you, Pasha!

Pasha Peddler:
Ah, don't mention it. After all, what're friends for, right?

Pasha Peddler:
[singing] I got sixpence, a jolly, jolly sixpence. Oh, I got sixpence...

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
With a voice you that, you need it.

Pasha Peddler:
[to a sentry wearing a gas mask] My, what a big nose YOU've got, Grandma.

[In making their escape, Dr. Quest and Race drop down onto two armed guards]

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Are you okay, Doctor?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Luckily something broke my fall.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
[with Hadji all set to go] Tell me, Pasha, how'd you get his passport, health certificate and application for adoption?

Pasha Peddler:
D'ya, it's not a question of HOW, daddy-o. It's how MUCH.

Hadji:
I am not a beggar, master. I am a magician. Observe. Sim sim salabim... and all that jazz. See? The dog has disappeared before your very eyes.

Pasha Peddler:
Now, if you gentlemen are going to Bharat, you're gonna need some gear.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Gear? What kind of gear?

Pasha Peddler:
Snow gear, man. That place sits way up on top of a mountain, and it's cold, Pops; and, uh, since we're friends, I'm gonna let you take advantage of me. I got a swingin' special on parkas. Only $39.50.

Jonny Quest:
Hey, Dad! Looks like a door in the side of the mountain.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Know anything about it, Pasha?

Pasha Peddler:
Not me, Pops. Uh, maybe it's an expresso house, only they serve nerve gas instead of coffee.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
You got a plan?

Pasha Peddler:
Course, my boy. We'll take this place like General Lee took Richmond.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
That was Grant.

Pasha Peddler:
No matter. I'll think of somethin'.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Oh-ho, brother!

Guard:
For the last time, peddler, get going.

Pasha Peddler:
Okay. I get the message. You want me to get goin', right? Well, Pasha never stays where he's not wanted. There's other secret laboratories around, you know.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Quiet, Bandit. You don't want to be the only disturbing influence around here, do ya?

[Bandit whimpers]

Hadji:
I think Bandit's feelings have been hurt.

Jonny Quest:
I didn't know he was so sensitive.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Race, Jonny, Hadji, get up here on the double. We're leaving for Thailand immediately.

Hadji:
Did he say immediately?

Jonny Quest:
No, he said Thailand. Come on. Let's go.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You know, some zoologist claim monkeys are smarter and make better pets than dogs.

Bandit:
Arf-arf arf! Arf!

Hadji:
Bandit doesn't think so. I think his feelings have been hurt again.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Never mind, Bandit. I still think dog's a man's best friend.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Picture the crew of this spaceship, locked in their metal prison surrounded by billions of miles of nothing for as long as sixteen years at a stretch.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
[whistles] That's pretty rough.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
The human mind is not yet prepared for such a test of solitude.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
So what you're after is sort of a giant tranquilizer.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Exactly. We know now that Man has always found ways to alter his emotions by consuming various plants. It's called hallucinogenics.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yes, Doctor.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
By synthesizing this plant into pills, a crew could keep mentally alert for as long as twenty years.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yes, Doctor.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Unfortunately, the use of this pill could be abused, which is why the formula must be guarded.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yes, Doctor.

Dr. Zin:
I want that formula.

Korchek:
Yes, Doctor.

Dr. Zin:
An increase in the dosage and your space crew becomes totally without will. Puppets, as it were. Interesting?

Korchek:
Very interesting, Dr. Zin.

Dr. Zin:
Such pills dropped in the water supply of a major city would reduce the inhabitants to a flock of sheep awaiting instructions.

Korchek:
Ooo, a brilliant plan, Dr. Zin.

Dr. Zin:
I have made you look like him, sound like him, walk and think like him. You must BECOME Race Bannon.

Dr. Zin:

[looking over precipice along a high mountain road] Wow, look down there!

Hadji:
[with hands over eyes] You look. In previous life I was fish, not bird.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
And let's cut out the fun and games, Little Sir Echo. What's going on here?

Korchek:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Okay, I'll play. Now, who are ya and what's the game?

Korchek:
My name is Race Bannon, I was born in Wilmette, Illinois, I am thirty-two years old, my father's name is John, my mother's Sarah, and I am very close to the work of Dr. Benton Quest. How am I doing, Tabak?

Tabak:
Perfect, sir.

Jonny Quest:
Hadji, I'm no seventh son of a seventh son like you, but now I'VE got a feeling.

Hadji:
You were looking at his face, weren't you?

Jonny Quest:
Yeah. Race really enjoyed shooting that cobra.

Hadji:
Also, he showed no surprise in seeing it.

Jonny Quest:
He's not acting like himself. I wonder why.

Hadji:
It started after he returned from taking picture of Buddha.

Jonny Quest:
Maybe he saw something or... Hey, maybe the answer's in his camera.

Korchek:
I'm afraid our young friends are too curious.

Suthep:
In the jungle, the "too curious" often mate with accidents.

Korchek:
Yes. Arrange one immediately.

Jonny Quest:
Jade, what're YOU doing here?

Jade:
I have some business with Race, naturally, but I might ask you the same question.

Jonny Quest:

Alone in the jungle in the middle of the night?

Hadji:
[flying over a herd of stampeding pachyderms] Hadji go. Elephant his brother.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Jade, how'd you know Korchek was a phony?

Jade:
There's only one Race Bannon.

Hadji:
Sim sim salabim. Believe what you see. It's not in your hand, so where could it be?

Tabak:
[grabbing Hadji's throat] Give me the gun, son of a mongoose!

Jonny Quest:
Hadji, you're chicken.

Hadji:
No, I'm Indian and superstitious.

Suthep:
It's not much further now.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
[climbing down rope] That's good, I've got the wrong haircut for playing Tarzan.

Jonny Quest:
[discussing Dr. Ashida's dragons] Wow! What do they eat?

Dr. Ashida:
They would eat you, my boy, if I let them.

[Dr. Ashida laughs sinisterly, Bandit growls angrily]

Dr. Ashida:
Why, your little friend would be a great delicacy for them, too.

[Bandit yelps terrified, Dr. Ashida laughs again]

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
But I'm not sure I understand. You do NOT want us to go to the island?

Native:
Ah, no. Ah, no. No go. Bad... bad dragons. Oh, big... oh, big dragons.

Jonny Quest:
Wow. Did you hear that, Hadji? Dragons!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Dr. Ashida is a most respected scientist.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
He's well-known for his zoological work, isn't he, sir?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Very well-known.

Dr. Ashida:
Everything on Ashida is yours.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
You call the island Ashida, Doctor?

Dr. Ashida:
Why not? I own it. What better name can a man give his land than his own.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
So you have no idea why that native would be so afraid of you?

Dr. Ashida:
None, unless he has run amok. They do, sometimes, you know.

Dr. Quest:
He, uh, spoke of dragons.

Dr. Ashida:
Ah, yes, my dragons.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Yours?

Dr. Ashida:
Mine.

Dr. Ashida:
[presenting his largest dragons] This is my crowning glory. I have to keep them in pits. I don't have cages big enough.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Incredible. It's as big as a crocodile.

Dr. Ashida:
Uh, fourteen feet, seven inches from nose to tail, and all my own, Doctor. If any species can be said to owe its existence to an outside source, then the Ashida dragon owes its life to me.

Hadji:
[at the sight of Ashida's servant] I do not believe it, Jonny. He is like the cyclops of old.

Dr. Ashida:
This one's name is Sumi, keeper of my dragons and champion wrestler in all the world. Is that not so, Sumi? He has never been defeated.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I sure wouldn't like to meet him in a dark alley.

Dr. Ashida:
Uh-huh. I do not keep him around for his looks, Mr. Bannon. My dragons are not sensitive. They do not mind his ugliness.

Dr. Ashida:
The natives here worshipped Kamatomo, a dragon effigy. That was before I took over. I gave them a new god. Now they worship - me.

Dr. Ashida:
This is my survival pit, Doctor. Surely, you don't think my dragons grew to their present size by accident. As you know, in nature only the strong survive. I give nature a helping hand.

[Ashida laughs]

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You pit one beast against another?

Dr. Ashida:
Exactly. In a fight to the death, the victor devours the vanquished.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I don't happen to approve of this, Dr. Ashida. Let's go, Race, boys.

Dr. Ashida:
Very well. If your western stomachs can not stand it, we shall postpone the duel.

Dr. Ashida:
It is too bad you do not understand our way of fighting, Quest, my friend.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I understand it, Dr. Ashida.

Dr. Ashida:
Really? Then let's have a match, but I warn you I am most expert.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
You're not serious, are you? I outweigh you by twenty pounds.

Dr. Ashida:
Our bigness means very little in judo, Mr. Bannon. It will be interesting to have an opponent other than Sumi.

Dr. Ashida:
It may interest you to learn, I have never before been defeated at judo. It is a new feeling for me.

Dr. Ashida:
My-my, what manners you Americans possess. You are leaving without telling me good-bye. And had I not, merely by chance, been nearby, I shudder to think what might have befallen you.

Jonny Quest:
Those lizards make good watchdogs, don't they, Ashida?

Dr. Ashida:
Ah, you noticed that, Mr. Bannon? How complimentary of you. Yes, Sumi releases a dozen or so each night. It ensures a sound sleep for me. In short, you will leave when I give the word, and not before.

Dr. Ashida:
I will make you a sporting proposition, Quest. If your man, Bannon, can stand up to my Sumi, then you may leave.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Me and that portable Skyscraper? I bet you want odds, too.

Dr. Ashida:
Ah, no, Bannon. I am a true sportsman: defeat Sumi and you win your freedom.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
There's only one way to stop a freight train like that - head on.

Dr. Ashida:
So, you let them get away. I warned you what I would do. Kneel, you stupid ox, and take your punishment.

Hadji:
Look! The door! It is open, Dr. Quest.

Jonny Quest:
Well, what're we waiting for? Let's go.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Not so fast, Jonny. Whadda you think, Race? A trap?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I sure do, Doctor. I think he wants us to leave so he can set his lizards on us.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
And you want to oblige him?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
We don't have a choice, Doctor.

Man in Street:
It is the cry of the yeti! The yeti! They have come back to the old palace!

Raj Guru:
I hear the villagers are uneasy tonight.

Ming Ho:
Yes. They are frightened. The storm has driven the yeti out of the mountain into the old palace.

Raj Guru:
That is not good. If the yeti cut our contact with the outside world, it could mean a slow death to the village and to us.

Jonny Quest:
Kinda scary, huh, Hadji?

Hadji:
Who's scared?

Jonny Quest:
I am.

Hadji:
Me, too.

[they laugh]

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Doctor, I thought Sir Edmund Hillary proved that yeti, or the abominable snowmen, don't exist.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Well, that's true, Race, but sometimes native superstitions are just as powerful as scientific proof.

Jonny Quest:
[as boulders strike the buildings] It's raining rocks!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
They're probably rolling down from the mountainside.

Hadji:
The yeti might be throwing them. They are suppose to be very strong.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
This is avalanche country. You get used to a few little ones.

Jonny Quest:
Seeing as how you know everything, Haj, what's the scoop on this yeti stuff?

Hadji:
They're also called abominable snowmen. They have feet that point backward, scream like a banshee, and are invisible.

Jonny Quest:
Well, if they're invisible, how can anybody see a yeti?

Hadji:
No one has - yeti.

Hadji:
Jonny, look! Tracks!

Jonny Quest:
Wow, look at the size of 'em! I bet it's a yeti!

Hadji:
You better go tell your dad.

Jonny Quest:
I better go find my dog.

Jonny Quest:
[as a yeti-man tumbles down the stairs] Uh-oh. Here comes the Oriental Express!

Jonny Quest:
Greetings from Spaceship No. 3!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I hope you boys have a good excuse.

Jonny Quest:
Well, uh... I'll try to think of one, Dad.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Oh, Dr. Quest, would you and Raj Guru step out here on the balcony?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Trouble, Race?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Uh, no, sir. Not now, but someone's been playing pretty rough.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[surveying the courtyard full of dead yeti-men] Looks like they've all been wiped out by some tremendous force.

The yeti have taken vengeance into their own hands.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
How do you tell a squid to get lost?

Control Center One:
I hold you responsible for seeing to it that the takeover attracts no attention.

Jonny Quest:
Boy, how come an eleven-year-old knows so many tricks?

Hadji:
I don't know. Just smart, I guess.

Jonny Quest:
You know what the trouble with the world is, Race?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Nope. Suppose you tell me.

Jonny Quest:
It's gotten too scientific.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Let's see now. The lever bolt's connected to the toggle bolt. The toggle bolt's connected to the cotter bolts. The cotter bolt's connected to the elbow bolts...

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
All right, goons, what's on your minds?

Commander Valmar:
If you will not cooperate, the boy will.

Jonny Quest:
You won't get me to talk.

Commander Valmar:
You misunderstand. After we begin to..."work" on you, your companion will be only too glad to talk.

Jonny Quest:
What'll we do, Dad?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I wish I knew, Son. We're in a tight spot.

Hadji:

Aren't they sort of a giant vulture?

Baron Heinrich Von Freulich:
Of course, they usually feed on carrion, dead bodies, but sometimes they will go for small live animals. I, uh... I never let Willie out of my sight. They are the kings of the Andean skies - strong, fearless and free. I envy them.

They say that when the war ended he flew into a rage. He wanted to raise his score to an even hundred. Looks like he's never gotten over his disappointment. The sooner we get out of here tomorrow the better.

Poor Bandit, I think he wishes he was safe on the ground. [gets airsick] And so do I.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

Right, again, Doctor.

And you're not taking the proper precautions. The residue from your bacteria culture tanks is draining into those marshes and contaminating the sea. Who can tell what monsters you're breeding out there.

Dr. Chu Sing Ling:
The bars to these cages can be opened automatically. I will set the automatic control for three hours. When you decide to cooperate, just call the guard who will be outside this door and you will be released.

Maybe it's that god Anubis wandering around looking for his temple.

[agitated servants mumble lowly]

I am afraid my servants do not appreciate your sense of humor, Mr. Bannon. They consider any mention of Anubis an omen of ill luck. To them the curse of Anubis is a very real thing.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You mean the superstition that whoever enters the god's temple will die?

[servants mumble lowly again]

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Dr. Kareem, now that's a pretty good clue. Whoever stole the statue isn't superstitious.

I am probably imagining things, but I want you to be prepared.

My son thought he saw the periscope of a submarine in the fjord. Would such a thing be possible?

Gunnar:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Gargoyles, Jonny. Originally, decorated waterspouts, but a word now applied to all grotesque figures on top of cornices.

Jonny Quest:
Hadji! Look at that gargoyle! It moved!

Hadji:

Jonny Quest:
Yeah. He shooed away a bird.

Hadji:
Oh, Jonny... When you see submarine periscopes where there couldn't be any, and then see stone gargoyles move when you know they can't, I think you'd better have your eyes examined - or your whole head!

Hadji:

Jonny Quest:
[impressed with Dr. Erikson's anti-gravity device] I wish I'd known about this when I dropped algebra.

Jonny Quest:
Say, Dad! Can submarines navigate these fjords?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Submarines? Whadda you mean?

Jonny Quest:
Well, there's a periscope behind us.

Jonny Quest:
[turning] Or at least there was one.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Well, probably the tail of another seal, Jonny. It's highly unlikely you'd find a submarine around here.

Jonny Quest:
Well, then I saw a highly unlikely submarine.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Jonny thought he saw a periscope in the fjord, and I'm sure it was only a seal.

Professor Ericson:
It would take desperate men indeed to try and run a submarine through the fjord with its tricky channel and the danger of falling ice.

Dr. Isaiah Norman:
Molecular energy has form. It has body. And it can be harnessed.

[explosion]

Dr. Isaiah Norman:
What have I created? I must call for help.

Dr. Isaiah Norman:
You know of my experiments in attempting to harness energy and my theory of controlling it?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Yes, I do.

Dr. Isaiah Norman:
Well, I'm afraid my efforts have resulted in the creation of something too terrible to contemplate.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
But, Isaiah...

Dr. Isaiah Norman:
No, believe me, Benton. It is monstrous beyond imagination and, what is worse, uncontrollable.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Dr. Norman was experimenting with energy and mass. To make it brief, it got away from him. He found he had made a mass of energy that somehow came alive. It feeds on more energy, and it lives only to feed. I'm afraid it consumed Dr. Norman before he could stop it.

Jonny Quest:
It eats people?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
No, Jonny. It consumes them. It eats energy - sunlight, electricity, the energy in a living body - anything it can get.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, how can it be stopped?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
There's only one way I can think of, Race.

Jonny Quest:
Well, how?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
First, we have to think of a way to make it visible, then we can lay a trap with some equipment I can try to put together - but how to see it?

Jonny Quest:
Well paint it.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Huh?

Jonny Quest:
Well paint it, Dad.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Jonny, you may have a thought there.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Come on, boys, back to the lab! We have a trap to set and no time to loose.

Come on, monsters, the plane's waiting. Let's go.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
His loss will be a serious setback in his field, won't it, Doctor?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Yes, but if there's any consolation, what we learn from every setback helps science to move forward.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
We seem to be on the trail of a two-legged tornado.

Hadji:
What's that strange sound?

Jonny Quest:
Well, maybe it's our friend, the two-legged tornado.

Hadji:

Roberts:
Is our man Race Bannon still assigned to guard the doctor's boy?

Mr. Corvin:

Jonny Quest:
What keeps this stuff floating, Race?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Sargasso weed. It's formed by tiny bladders the size of grapes. Sargasso is the Portugese word for grapes.

Jonny Quest:
Has it been here long?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, Columbus sailed through it for days. He thought they'd NEVER get out.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Uh-oh. What's this? Webbed footprints. Either it's a king-sized duck or we're not the only ones on this ship.

Jonny Quest:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Oh? What seems to be the trouble?

Lt. Singh:

Commissioner Wah:
Lately, many people living in the Swamp Lake area have become sick eating the Quetong fish from the lake, the same fish they have been catching and using for food for centuries.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Strange.

Commissioner Wah:
And stranger still is fact that no investigator sent to the lake has returned.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You say you've lost four men in this area?

Commissioner Wah:
Yes, Dr. Quest. We feel something sinister, something criminal, is going on, but we've made no progress. We are completely baffled. We need your help.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
There's something about the orient - captivating but at the same time sinister, like this fish.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You boys are staying here.

Jonny Quest:
[glumly] I know... "where we'll be safe."

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
So, Singh is an enemy.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
And he's got the boys.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
We've got to hurry. He doesn't know we saw the tape. We'll trick him into leading us to the boys.

Commissioner Wah:
Is he dead.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
No, not yet. You'd better get him to the hospital.

Commissioner Wah:
It would be best if he were to die. If he lives, he will be shot as a traitor.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
What do ya think, Doctor? Singh was pretty incoherent with his babbling about block houses, plans to set up secret missile bases...

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I know, Race. It's not much to go on, but we've got to find the boys.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I wonder what Singh meant when he said that "the trees have eyes."

Sentry Post 6:
Post Number 6 calling Post Number 5. Answer. Is anything wrong? Over. Post 5, come in. Come in. Over.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Uh... Post 5 here. Everything under control.

Sentry Post 6:
You know the rules. Strict silence must be maintained. Out.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[spotting a sentry seated on a block house] Look, Race. There's the block house. Think you can get him from here?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I don't know. I'll switch to full power.

[Race shoots; no visible reaction]

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Afraid he's out of range, Race.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yeah. I guess we'll have to take care of him the hard way.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[as the Quests' swamp boat is fired upon] How 'bout a little more speed, Race.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Sorry, Doctor. This electric job's built for silence, not speed.

Jonny Quest:
Look, someone's coming.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
It's Commissioner Wah and a boatload of police. Too bad they missed the party.

Jonny Quest:
Yeah, but so did we. We slept through all the action.

Jonny Quest:
Hey, look! The thing! Look!

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Look, Doctor! It's just like an eye!

Dr. Zin:
[chuckles] Dr. Quest is taking the bait, just like I wanted.

Zin's Servant:
Your food, Dr. Zin.

Dr. Zin:
You brainless fool! Get out! And if you ever come in here again without knocking, I'll have you flogged. Now GET OUT!

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
What do you make of it, Dr. Quest?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I don't know, but wherever it comes from, it's the result of a brilliant mind.

Dr. Zin:
[chuckles] You'll find out, Dr. Quest.

Jonny Quest:
Look, the eye, it's closing.

Hadji:
Like it's going to sleep.

Hadji:
We study to learn and be smart, but I think Bandit is the smartest. He sleeps while we study.

Jonny Quest:
What's 'e matter, Bandit? Having bad dreams about big bad rabbits?

Hadji:
Maybe he heard one passing the window.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
That Para-Power Ray, Doctor, just how much can it do?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
To tell the truth, Race, I'm not sure. It should at the least be able to drain power from an object. A car, a light bulb, an airplane...

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Making them useless.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Temporarily useless.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
How does it work?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
You might say it magnetizes energy, which is, after all, power.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Quite a weapon.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Could be, because it doesn't have to kill, just disarm an army or an air force, leaving it useless but alive.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Anything else before we turn in?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Wanna check that thing we brought in?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

[pulling up before the warehouse] Where's the guard?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Who stole the thing you were guarding?

Soldier Guarding Robot Spy:
Well, no one. It-it clobbered me.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Clobbered you?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Do you know what you're saying?

Soldier Guarding Robot Spy:
Yes, sir. It had legs like a giant spider, an-an-an eye, and two antennas sticking out the front, and it touched me with one of them, and I was paralyzed.

Dr. Zin:
Ah-ha, there it is, Dr. Quest's new Para-Power Gun. And now, my robot friend, pay attention. Approach it. Examine it. Learn it well so you can come back here with all its secrets safely stored in your memory cells.

Dr. Zin:
Ah-ha! Good evening, Dr. Quest.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
I know that voice. It's Dr. Zin.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Zin!

Dr. Zin:
Quite right. You like my secret agent?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
What is it?

Dr. Zin:
Since you have no way of stopping it, I will tell you. It's my very latest invention - an electronic, uh... spy.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Spy?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
The Trojan house routine.

Dr. Zin:
Correct.

Jonny Quest:
Oh, I hope it works, Dad.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Son, it's GOT to work.

Soldier Guarding Robot Spy:
All right, who's in there? I'm sure I heard something. What the... An eye! Ahhhhhhhhhh!

Dr. Zin:

Dr. Zin:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
And we'll be ready for you Zin. You can bet on that.

Bandit:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
That's right, Bandit. That's exactly what I was going to say.

Hadji:
Don't worry, Bandit. Nothing will happen to you that won't happen to the rest of us.

Jonny Quest:
THAT'S a happy thought.

Jonny Quest:
All we have to fear is monsters themselves.

Hadji:
[as Jonny looks inside a galley cabinet] Any food, Jonny?

Jonny Quest:
Nothing. The shelves are bare. Old Mother Hubbard must have built this ship. I can't even find a bone.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
We're friends. Come on out of there before you freeze to death.

Charlie:
That's a good idea. Very cold in ice box.

Charlie:
Dragon break loose. Big fight. Big fight. Everybody leave ship. I only one left, so I hide in ice box. Dragon - terrible. He kill us all.

Jonny Quest:
Well, right now, I wish we could find something to eat.

Charlie:
Crew take everything with them. Only thing left is fortune cookies and some boiled rice.

Jonny Quest:
Not again!

Hadji:
Seems like everything we've eaten these days has a message in it.

Charlie:
For desert we have fortune cookie.

Jonny Quest:
Hey, listen to my fortune: "Be careful of unknown danger."

Hadji:
Mine is not much better: "There is great evil abroad tonight."

Jonny Quest:
Gee, maybe there IS something to this fortune cookie stuff.

[Bandit suddenly growls]

Jonny Quest:
Uh-oh. Maybe he hears the monster's footprints again.

Hadji:
How can anyone hear footprints?

Jonny Quest:
Some monsters make louder ones than others.

Charlie:
[manning the harpoon gun] Please, honorable ancestors, make humble Charlie's aim good!

[last line of the series]

Search Plane Pilot:
Search plane calling base. Have found the Star of Borneo. And we're in luck. We found Dr. Quest and his party, too.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[reading the captain's log] "Developed engine trouble this morning two hundred miles from the Lingga Archipelago. While it was being fixed, I first saw the creature as it crawled over the ship's railing. It was probably brought up out of the sea by a storm, which had been raging the night before. I gave orders for the crew to capture it but it wasn't easy. It's a strange and awful thing. I've never seen the likes of it before, almost impossible to describe. It's body is covered with scales and its huge glassy eyes seem to indicate it came from an almost unimaginable depth. It walks upright and has superhuman strength. Strong light seems to bother it."

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, if it came from the bottom of the sea, I can understand why light would bother it.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
[continuing] "Finally, we were able to get a net over it but not before it had broken the neck of Banoose, my second mate, and hurled three of my crew into the sea. We managed to get chains around it and lock it in the aft hold, but the crew is in panic and near mutiny. I've decided to kill this monstrous evil before it somehow destroys this ship, and our precious cargo is at the bottom of the sea."

Hadji:
What do you suppose this old ship is carrying that could be so precious?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
The Dutch are trying to hold on to what's left of their empire in this part of the world. It's possible that many of her ships carry highly classified and valuable cargo.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Apparently this was written later the same day. Listen: "It looks like our gruesome enemy may outlive us all for, apparently, it is impervious to death. Bullets have no effect on it. I emptied a gun directly into its horrible body but nothing happened. The monster became so enraged it broke its chains, and I barely got away in time. An hour ago, it was prowling below deck, and the men are taking to the lifeboats. In a moment, I will..."

Jonny Quest:
I will what? What does he say?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
That's it. It ends right there.

Jonny Quest:
Oh, gosh! That monster musta come in here and killed the captain while he was writing.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
How much further to the lost city, Montoya?

Montoya:
Maybe close, maybe far. Do not savvy too good.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Well, at least he gives you an answer.

Toucan:
Bandito, arr, arr...

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Race, swing around real easy, just as if you were casually taking in the sights. That cave entrance on the fourth level of the terrace. You see a reflection of something?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Yeah, I see it.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Whatever it is, we'd better be on our guard.

Perkins:
All right now, what about our uninvited guests? Still poking about?

Montoya:
Si. You think they look for same thing we do?

Perkins:
I don't know. They better not be, for THEIR sake.

Montoya:
I kill them, then we got no trouble with them.

Perkins:
No, no. No trouble with THEM, just with half the police force down in the capital. If them chaps out there don't show up, the coppers'll be on our necks like a pack of locusts. SCARE 'em off, like we did the others.

Montoya:
Si, I will like that.

Perkins:
The big question now: what am I gonna do with you? But don't you fret none. I'll think of something.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
We all set to roll?

Jonny Quest:
Hey, wait! Where's Bandit?

Hadji:
He must be off exploring again.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
I'll get him here in a hurry. All I have to do is start the motor. He'll show up any minute.

Jonny Quest:
It's a secret room, and, gosh, look - jewels!

Hadji:
I have seen emeralds and jade in the museum of the maharaja, but this is ten times as much, and each one is much larger, too.

Perkins:
Steady the boat! You're spoilin' my aim!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Race, the stalactites. Maybe you could drop a few in on them.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Good idea, Doctor. Here goes. Stalactite in the corner canue.

[repeated line]

Deen:
Kill, Tulu! Kill!

Jonny Quest:
Oops! Look out! He's got a mouth full of sharp teeth!

Skipper:
This jungle'll bite you if you don't keep on your toes.

Deen:
[to his slave miners] Listen to me! Some of you have tried to escape. There is no escape from Tulu or my plateau. As Tulu captured you, so will he capture the intruders below. Meanwhile, you will continue your work. Do you understand?

Deen:
Attack me and Tulu will kill you all!

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Let me have your flashlight. I wanna signal the boat.

Hadji:
[at the boat] What is he saying, Jonny?

Jonny Quest:
He wants to know if we're all right.

Skipper:
I'll answer him, son.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
[on the plateau] What's the answer?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
"Everything a-okay but..."

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
But what?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
The skipper is saying something about the bird and the boat.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
But, what about them?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Please, Race. You know I never use THAT kind of language.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
There IS trinoxite somewhere near here.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Trinoxite?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Yes, a new metal, and absolutely essential to the space program.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
But where does it come from?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Right around here somewhere. Take a look. There are many trinoxite mines in the world but none half as pure as this sample essays.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Where did this sample come from?

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Someplace upriver. A naive and his brother gave it to me and said it came from the land of the turu.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
That's impossible, Aku. No bird alive could be big enough to lift a man.

Aku:
Si. Si. Big turu. Big bird take Nuago.

Aku:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:

Aku:

Skipper:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Aku, whatever you said about that turu thing, you didn't say enough! He must be bigger than an elephant!

Pierre:

Voice on Pierre's Radio:
Government agents?

Pierre:
I do not think so.

Voice on Pierre's Radio:
Get rid of them at all costs.

Pierre:

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
And how can we be trespassing on government property?

Blackie LeBlanch:
[shouting during the smuggling operation] Hey, Andre! Bring me another hollow log for the rest of this gold!

White Feather:
Boy with hair like snow and with red stone in head must run like warrior.

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Uh-oh. We've got company, Doctor.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Can you reach your rifle, Race?

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Getting it.

Dr. Benton C. Quest:
Look at the size of it.

[the wolf charges but doesn't stop]

Roger T. 'Race' Bannon:
Hey! He went right by us!

Race Bannon:
Look! I think he got away!

Jonny Quest:
How'd you find us in that sawmill?

White Feather:

White Feather:
