One thousand years ago, there was a great civilization blessed with peace and prosperity. However, the golden age did not last as war came to that kingdom. Its people tried to fight the evil that threatened them... and they failed.

[Princess Serenity is watching in tears as the Dark Kingdom's army lays waste to the moon]

Endymion:
Princess Serenity.

Serenity:
Endymion, you shouldn't have come. It's far too dangerous.

Endymion:
I had to say goodbye.

Serenity:
It's all over.

Endymion:
This is not the end. Whatever happens in battle... we'll always be together.

Serenity:
I wish I could believe that.

Endymion:
Look, there may come a time when the guardians can't protect you... and I may not survive the night.

Serenity:
Don't speak like that!

Endymion:
Listen! Promise me you'll never give up! That you will always fight!

Serenity:
Me? But I can't, I'm not strong enough! [sobs]

Endymion:
Serenity! You are stronger than you know. Some things in life are worth fighting for.
