Stoney Burke:
Hardly a soul in this country doesn't owe something.

Dayton Hill:
Maybe that's what's wrong with this country: Live it up now, earn it later.

Dayton Hill:
I'd like for you to help me.

Stoney Burke:
Alright. The first thing you learn is how to let other people help you. Don't lean on them. Don't take advantage of them. But if you get into trouble, you try to help yourself as much as you can. If it gets too tough, you call out.

Dayton Hill:
I don't know if I can do that.

Stoney Burke:
The way to even it out is to try to help other people all the time. That's your bank account. That's your savings account. Then, when you need it, it's rightfully yours.

Reese Ludlow:
[Threatening Stoney] Listen, you get nasty with me, and these boys are gonna ride you outta town on a forty-cent broom handle wearing nothing but the inside of a pillow!

Ruth Coles:
In light of what happened out there this afternoon, I cannot regard rodeo as a sport.

Stoney Burke:
Well, I'll agree with you part way, ma'am. It's range ridin' and horse breakin', ropin', all the skills a man needs to work on a stock ranch.

Ruth Coles:
Please, Mr. Burke. It's dangerous and it's deadly. I can't say any more.

Stoney Burke:
Ma'am, I don't mean to get across you, but none of us are out to be heroes. All I say is this: People all over the world look up to the cowboy in America. Now, in our line of work, a man is bound to run into some hard knocks now and then. And it takes skill and some insides to fight through it.

Ruth Coles:
I ask you to think of the effect it has on our young people.

Stoney Burke:
I hope it does have some effect on them, ma'am. I hope the young people get to caring about hard ridin' and gettin' up after some rough spills, 'cause that's the only way they're gonna learn to come out a winner.

Ves Painter:
Well, you know there's only one thing tougher to beat than a state senator. That's them little old ladies marchin' around in them club-toed shoes with them campaign buttons says 'Watch yourself, daddy, we got the vote.'

Stoney Burke:
I make it a rule never to crawl when I can ride.

Ves Painter:
"Powers that be"? I'd like to meet up with him someday. That son of a buck causes a lot of aggravation.

Ves Painter:
Look, I'd introduce you boys around, but they'd drop my name from the social register for associatin' with rodeo trash.

Cody Bristol:
[Pointing to a woman in the stands] Do you know that young lady, the one with black hair?

Ves Painter:
No, I don't see no young lady, but I do see a plenteous exhibition of blue catroucious feminality and don't spare the enchiladas.

Stoney Burke:
Who is she?

Ves Painter:
Well, that's the daughter of Howard Meade. Howard Meade's the president of Meade, Miller, Fitch, Endicott and I'll tell ya, boys, they're financial wizards.

E.J. Stocker:
Well, that kinda makes ya feel all empty around the pockets, doesn't it?

Cody Bristol:
You sure know how to pick 'em.

Stoney Burke:
[Chuckling] Shoot.

Stoney Burke:
[Describing Ves Painter] He plays both sides of the street, but he kind of shades in our favor. What I'm trying to say is he's a no good rat but he's an all right joe, if you know what I mean.

Lieutenant Luis Escalon:
That's what I call real teamwork.

Lieutenant Joe Cardiff:
Luis, how come our half of the team only gets into the action when the bullets start flying?

Lieutenant Luis Escalon:
That's all part of being a cop.

Ves Painter:
[Discussing Soames] The lengths some people won't go to to get out of an honest day's work.

Dell Tindall:
Yeah, you oughtta know, sugarfoot.

Ves Painter:
You know I got a condition that keeps me from being able to double up my fist. It's a wide, wavy yellow streak creepin' right up my back. Saps the hero juice right out of me.

Cody Bristol:
[Watching Stoney] I'll tell ya, E.J., a man rides a bronc like that can't be all bad.

Stoney Burke:
Earlie, I saw somethin' when I was layin' on the floor of that trailer. I saw that God's got a purpose. No matter if he makes a man rich, or puts him in prison, or puts him up on a horse. Ridin' broncs is my life. And I got a chance to make a good life. Not just pretty good, but good. Good the way my old man was good. Extra good.

Bud Sutter:
[Discussing the outbreak of violence] They were wrong to break up those barricades, and they know they were wrong. But they don't know how else to fight city hall.

Stoney Burke:
It's time they found out city hall is nobody to fight.

Dr. Glen Elden:
Always, Stoney? Every time? Is city hall always right?

Stoney Burke:
No, sir, no, sir. I'd say they're wrong a good part of the time. But you don't fight 'em with mob violence.

Bud Sutter:
Well, how do you fight them?

Stoney Burke:
With votes!

Ves Painter:
[as the police take a young racer into custody] You gonna let him run him in, Stoney?

Stoney Burke:
He's wearing a police badge, Ves. Right or wrong, the only way you can straighten it out is with a lawyer.

Stoney Burke:
It's a free country, even if it goes wrong sometimes. But if a man's in the clear, there's no power in this land that can keep him locked up. None.

Tack Reynolds:
He thinks just because I'm a mechanic I'm low class or something.

Stoney Burke:
Well, Henry Ford was a mechanic.

Tack Reynolds:
You don't have to pat me on the shoulder.

Stoney Burke:
Ohh, I'm not not patting you on the shoulder. I can't get near it; you got a chip on it as big as a barn.

Ves Painter:
Looks to me like there's a little conflict of interest here.

Red:
What's that mean?

Ves Painter:
Well, that's when you dip both hands and both feet into the cookie jar all at the same time.

E.J. Stocker:

Cody Bristol:
