My Name is Johnny Wowk AKA Johnny The Walker. I started walking and keeping track of my miles in 1993.
I don't drink., smoke, or do drugs. I eat organic foods.
I have End Stage Renal Disease passed on to me and my older brother from my deceased father who died from it at the age of 58. The ESRD caused both my kidneys to fail in July of 2000 ending up on dialysis. When my kidneys failed I decided to start walking in memory of my dad and promote kidney disease awareness. After five years on dialysis I received a kidney transplant at Mass General Boston. That kidney lasted eleven years then failed and back on dialysis where I remain to this day. Even though I have been plagued by operations, continues surgeries, dialysis, hospital and doctor appointments I continue walking in memory of my dad setting walking records along the way. Walked 20 up to 33 miles in a single day 402 times. I now hold seven mall walking records and one Planet Fitness treadmill record, I'm over 4,300 miles on the treadmill already. I have walked more than 36,700 miles plus many misc miles. When I add the miles I walked as a security officer back in the eighties and nineties I have walked more than 43,800 miles. I have become America's greatest walker. My doctors tell me to keep on walking. I'm going to walk more than 50,000 miles, twice the distance of around the world.
