Herbert Rappaport was born in 1908 in Vienna, Austria-Hungary, died in Leningrad, Soviet Union as Gerbert Moricovic Rappaport. In early 30's Rappaport worked as an assistant to Georg Wilhelm Pabst. In 1936 he was officially invited to Soviet Union to internationalize the Soviet Cinema that he accepted and following 40 years he spent working as a filmmaker in Soviet Union
