That's exactly what Buddha did, after realizing that fighting his demons off was getting nowhever, while seeking Enlightenment under Bodhi tree. You must develop gut to face your demons, such as anger, fear, greed, guilt, jealousy, lack of self-esteem, undue pride, and anything that is stopping you from reaching Enlightenment. You must bravely enter the territory that many fear to tread. Dance with your demons, and by God's grace you will succeed.
Face your deficiencies and acknowledge them; but do not let them master you. Let them teach you patience, sweetness, insight.
Facing life's adversities head-on, and surviving through a truly traumatic experience often makes one tougher, smarter and stronger than ever before. Only you know it inside that you're not, and you'll never be, the same person as you were before encountering and overcoming that challenging phase of your life. You did not let that experience knock you down, dampen your spirit, and drain your resolve. Instead you found a way to rise from the ashes to face the world, now empowered and enabled with exceptional resilience. It's so true that what doesn't kill you surely makes you stronger. I would not bet against US innovation, entrepreneurship and business culture - The trinity that drives economic growth and recovery. Yes, we do face a major crisis, but we also do have a proven track record of recovery.
