Author's bio:*Required Mme de Sevigne (1626-1696) Born of a old Burgundian family, married in 1644 to a scion of a distinguished Breton family. Widowed 7 years later when her husband was fatally wounded in a duel. She moved to Paris after that she divided her time between the capitol and her country estate. A staple at the court of Louis XVI, she was acquainted with much of the French Nobility and present at many of the signal events of the era. Her letters to her cousin and daughter contain some of the most vivid pictures of the day, and remain eminently readable for those with an interest in the period.
