Tonight we bring you a celebration of that annual schlok-fest, that apparently everyone loves yet at the same time never quite manages to stay awake through.

In recent years, Eurovision has alternately been hailed as a cool post-modern joke or dismissed as a tired old irrelevance, though its fans are keen to point out that we have it to thank for bringing us Abba. This of course is a bit like thanking Chernobyl for discovering Greenpeace.
