At the time, "The International Brotherhood of Teamsters" was the largest trade union in world. Jimmy Hoffa was their president for 14 years during the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. On March 7, 1967 he was sent to prison for jury tampering, fraud and conspiracy involving the misuse of union pension funds. On December 23, 1971 after serving almost 5 years, Hoffa was released from prison under a commutation from President Nixon. As a condition of the pardon, Hoffa was barred from union office for a period of ten years.This program examines Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters union, their successes and their scandals.
