They tried the whole 'miracle cure' with Miriam, but what could we expect? She got sicker and sicker and the deadline got closer and closer. It was just too frightening for someone of her liveliness to imagine. So one day... she empties her bottle. I came home from work and she was gone. But she did write me a letter. Granted it was all chicken scratch cause she could barely hold a pen by then. She said a long life is what we all long for. But to live a short one full of wonder? That was good enough for her. I wish she would've held on till the end but I can't be mad at her for that... And so I come here, from time to time, to our place.
