The Distressed Watcher2010

Distressed Watcher:
Jar-Jar never shuts up. He constantly gets in the way. He is obviously shoe-horned into scenes where he has no business being merely to provide comic relief. And, he's not nearly as bad as most people say. He's annoying, but so are C-3PO, R2-D2 and Chewbacca. He's supposed to be annoying. The problem is that an annoying character only works if you care about the characters that are being annoyed, and here we don't. So the only person Jar-Jar annoys is us. He falls flat as a joke because the context of the film doesn't allow it to work.
