Quotes from the news wire:
After the story broke, Tapper reportedly reached out to Parnell repeatedly asking him to make a joint statement to clear Tapper’s name of this obvious breach of journalistic ethics. CNN conducted no inquiry and imposed no disciplinary measures on Tapper.
Oh, it would drop like a stone.
I think it would paralyze the economy, i think it would shock the economic markets in a way we’ve never seen before.
I’ve learned a powerful lesson, and I paid a very high price for learning that lesson.
It was probably the toughest time of my life.
The way my time ended at CNN is hard, while I have a thick skin, I also have a family, for whom the past week has been extraordinarily difficult. So, right now, I have to take a step back and focus on what comes next. That means I will no longer be doing my SiriusXM radio show. I am extremely grateful for the support I have received from SiriusXM throughout my time there. I also want to express my sincere appreciation for my loyal listeners. I will miss our conversations a great deal – but I look forward to being back in touch with you all in the future.
It was a mistake … When my brother's situation became turbulent, being looped into calls with other friends of his and advisors that did include some of his staff — I understand why that was a problem for CNN.
You know, I'm always careful when I talk to media, you know? do you know how many f----- phone calls I've gotten from people at ABC who say that reporters are calling and lying about things they heard about me totry to get stories about me when I was at ABC? Guys calling and saying, 'I heard he's the Charlie Rose of ABC, used to invite women to the hotel and open uphis bathrobe.' Do I look like the kind of f----- guy who's gotta do that?
I'm not an adviser. I'm Chris Cuomo. I wasn't in control of anything. I was there to listen and offer my take.

The New York Attorney General’s office released transcripts and exhibits Monday that shed new light on Chris Cuomo’s involvement in his brother’s defense. The documents, which we were not privy to before their public release, raise serious questions. When Chris admitted to us that he had offered advice to his brother’s staff, he broke our rules and we acknowledged that publicly. But we also appreciated the unique position he was in and understood his need to put family first and job second. However, these documents point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew. As a result, we have suspended Chris indefinitely, pending further evaluation. encyclopedia.
I’ve been suspended from CNN. You know this already. It hurts to even say it, it’s embarrassing, but I understand it and I understand why some people feel the way they do about what I did, i’ve apologized in the past and I mean it, it’s the last thing I ever wanted to do was compromise any of my colleagues and do anything but help.
He was leading this country during a time of crisis and the nation needed him. And it just drove the political enemies, especially Republicans … because their guy is sitting on a bed, eating cheeseburgers, watching TV or golfing.
It is a lie to say that the presumption applied here because like I just said here, we're not in a court.
I did not want him to resign in the beginning because I believed him and I thought that you don't resign. You ask for due process and leave the women alone and let due process take care of the situation. Well, but eventually, when there wasn't going to be due process and his party was against him, and obviously the Republicans weren't going to help him, then he had no choice because he couldn't do the work of the state anymore. And that's why he was in it in the first place.
The game has rules. And one of the general principles is you can fight against the other party and you can fight against the media, but only if you have your party, andrew had his party enforcing a rule against him that if you have accusations, you have problems, and you don't really get to vet the accusations and you don't get to go against your accusers.
When asked, I would reach out to sources, other journalists, to see if they had heard of anybody else coming out.
Hope you are able to appreciate what you did in your state, and what it means for the rest of the country now, and what it will always mean to those who love and care about you the most, i'm wowed by what you did. And, more importantly, I'm wowed by how you did it. This was very hard. I know it's not over. But obviously, I love you as a brother. Obviously, I'll never be objective.
There are rhetorical questions, there are questions that are being asked to just to be antagonistic … There are questions that are said for informational basis. And there are questions that have a concern of policy, and I don't think this checked any box other than the antagonism. CNN was always going to cover it. They had always covered my brother for better or worse.
You will likely see these kinds of scare tactics – government, the Democrats, they’re the same thing, and they want to ruin the way you live. Testing, masks, vaccine, now your kids in school, critical race theory, whatever that is.
You can dismiss the absurdity of this, right? What is this, like ‘Fahrenheit 451?’ No. This is modern day, and it is messaging that may work.
Her son was assigned to read it in an advanced placement English course, it's college level. Smart kid. The parent? Maybe not so much.
I can be objective about just about any topic, but not about my family. Those of you who watch this show get it. Like you, I bet, my family means everything to me. And I am fiercely loyal to them. I'm family first, job second, but being a journalist and a brother to a politician is unique and a unique challenge and I have a unique responsibility to balance those roles. It's not always easy. People can say and write what they want, but I want you to know the truth. How I helped my brother also matters. When my brother's situation became turbulent, being looped into calls with other friends of his and advisers that did include some of his staff, I understand why that was a problem for CNN. It will not happen again.
Obviously I'm aware of what is going on with my brother. And obviously, I cannot cover it because he is my brother, now, of course, CNN has to cover it. They have covered it extensively and they will continue to do so.
Do you know how many f----- phone calls I've gotten from people at ABC who say that reporters are calling and lying about things they heard about me totry to get stories about me when I was at ABC? Guys calling and saying, 'I heard he's the Charlie Rose of ABC, used to invite women to the hotel and open uphis bathrobe.' Do I look like the kind of f----- guy who's gotta do that? sure. Why not?
As Shelley acknowledges, our interaction was not sexual in nature. It happened 16 years ago in a public setting when she was a top executive at ABC. I apologized to her then, and I meant it.
I said last year that his appearances on this show would be short-lived and they were. The last was over a year ago, long before any kind of scandal. I also said back then that a day would come when he would have to be held to account and I can't do that. I said point-blank, I can't be objective when it comes to my family, so I never reported on the scandal and when it happened, I tried to be there for my brother.
Any confidence the world had in our country is now, ummm, gone, saigon, circa 1975, steroids, and former defense secretary and CIA director Leon Panetta, yeah, rightly calling it Biden’s Bay of Pigs and thanks to the actions of our derelict, low-functioning president … the absolute worst-case scenario has been playing out before our eyes.
As for me, I've told you it's never easy being in this business and coming from a political family, especially now. The situation is unlike anything I could have imagined. And yet, I know what matters at work and at home. Everyone knows you support your family. I know and appreciate that you get that, but you should also know I never covered my brother's troubles because I obviously have a conflict and there are rules at CNN about that, i said last year that his appearances on this show would be short-lived and they were. The last was over a year ago, long before any kind of scandal. I also said back then that a day would come when he would have to be held to account and I can't do that. I said point-blank, I can't be objective when it comes to my family, so I never reported on the scandal and when it happened, I tried to be there for my brother.
I've always been a soft guy, i am the Love Gov. I'm a cool dude in a loose mood. You know that. I just say let it go. Just go with the flow, baby.
That’s not who I am.
So, how about now? How about now, Democrats? Are you ready to play to win, now? Have you had enough?
All this energy we’re wasting on, ‘Was it the lab? Was it a bat in the wild? At the market or whatever it is?’ The same people who are so curious now that they wanna be right, at the same time that debate was happening earlier on they were saying, ‘There is no pandemic. That it’s a hoax,’.
Now too many see the protests as the problem. No, the problem is what forced your fellow citizens to take to the streets: persistent, poisonousinequities and injustice, and please, show me where it says protesters are supposed to be polite and peaceful. Because I can show you that outraged citizens are what made the country what she is and led to any major milestone. To be honest, this is not a tranquil time.
Everything that he had ever said about public service is what you demonstrated right here and right now during this period when your state needed it most, obviously, I'll never be objective. Obviously, I think you're the best politician in the country. But I hope you feel good about what you did for your people because I know they appreciate it. Nothing's perfect, you'll have your critics, but I've never seen anything like what you did and that's why I'm so happy to have had you on thisshow and I hope you know that.
I thought that was a good policy before, i think before Covid, he didn't cover his brother, and I don't know what changed during Covid, but I think that was a good policy.
I loomover that table, in their minds, I’m Sonny Corleone and I’m capable of anything.
I lived a situation like that and it does n’t have to be real, the threat, for you to believe it’s imminent.
It’s all B.S., i lived a situation like that and it does n’t have to be real, the threat, for you to believe it’s imminent.
I hope you are able to appreciate what you did in your state and what it means for the rest of the country now. I'm wowed by what you did, and more importantly, I'm wowed by how you did it.
Look, incompetent government can kill people, this is not a joke, and more people died here than needed to.
The Trump administration announced eligibility, 65-plus, so you take a state like New York, that is seven million people are eligible for the vaccine, 65-plus, healthcare workers, essential workers, etc. Seven million people. We received 250,000 doses per week, so they constructed a tremendous supply and demand debacle.
I've got brain fog that won't go away, i've got an onset of clinical depression, which is not sadness. People keep saying to me,' Don't be sad.' I'm not sad. I'm depressed. It's different. I can't control it.

And Iguarantee you, people will find ways to defend them by attacking me, but they wont own up to the obvious. But thats politics.
This is the dream, just to be back up here doing normal things.
When I do have a couple of good hours, I'm still trying to do help with procurement for the state [ of New York ] because they really are fighting state by state, which is so stupid, to get the equipment that they need, so, I don't know how I got it and most people don't, Anderson Cooper, and we are so far behind on testing. We're telling ourselves these lies about testing. We're nowhere near where we need to be.
That is hurting me way more than anything the virus can do.
New York must stop all of its unnecessary lawsuits harrassment, start cleaning New York up, and lowering taxes. Build relationships, but dont bring Fredo ! Trump said, tacking on a insult referring to Chris Cuomo, Chris Cuomo. The Fredo reference is a nod to The Godfather films, and a character in the film who ultimately betrays Chris Cuomo. The Fredo reference was first made by a Trump supporter last summer in a viral video that saw the television journalist get irate with the man for the insult. In the video, Chris Cuomo says the term was meant as a derogatory term for Chris Cuomo Italian heritage, similar to the N-word for African Americans. ( Punk-a ** b ***** s from the right call me Fredo, Chris Cuomo said in the video. My name is Chris Cuomo. Im an anchor on CNN. Fredo is from The Godfather. He was a weak brother and they use it as an Italian aspersion.) DHS SUSPENDS GLOBAL ENTRY FOR New Yorkers ; WILL AFFECT 800K OVER 5 YEARS Chris Cuomo had said hes willing to restore federal access to driving records on a limited basis. But in a midday news conference, Chris Cuomo pledged not to let federal immigration agents see lists of people who had applied for a new type of license that doesnt require applicants to prove they are in the U.S. legally. If they think theyre going to extort New York into giving them a database of undocumented people, theyre wrong. I will never do that.
Look at presidents when they come in and when they leave, i mean, come on, look at Clintons hair, it went white.George W. Bushlooks like he got a beat down. Obama looks like his own grandfather. I mean, look at it. I mean, this is a very hard job, because of the stress that they carry with them. Now lets look at this president. Its been almost three years since Trump won the presidency. It looks exactly the same. His hair is like,I dont know whats going on with that. But he may do things that presidents in the past havent done to augment their physical reality. But it could also be that he doesnt care the way others have.
Youre gonna have a f---in problem, what, what you gonna do about it?
You can build a physical barrier. But why say its a cure-all to keep back this demonized group of people, like this marauding horde that doesnt exist. [Trump] created all of this. Its all bogus.
Our president said today that the GOP will be known as the party of health care, but it seems to me he left out a word, based on his administrations latest move with the ACA, the president will make his party about removing health care. This president and his party have no plan to provide care to tens of millions if the ACA is gone. Why? Why? Why? Welcome to the new normal.
I want people to see what he considers his line of defense, i want people to see what he thinks is appropriate for his main counselor to do on television.
No, facts are not in the eye of the beholder, yes it is -- yes they are. Nowadays they are.
If fact [checking] is anything, we've never had anybody with the level of mendacity that he has. Not even close, it's in the eye of the beholder.
One of them has already convicted Donald Trump and one of them has already exonerated Donald Trump. We are looking for the truth.
The independent thinker, the open-minded person doesn’t have anywhere to go. So we are building a home for them.
You ca n’t be the boy who cried wolf and have a viable impeachment power. You ca n’t use it over and over again against the same president.
The book is a must read.
By numbers and statistics, you cannot make the case that the illegal entrance are more dangerous than native born citizens, why make them monsters when that's not true in the data?
We went to the White House when it happened and Raj whatever-his-name-is didn’t back off the words.
I forgot Raj’s last name this morning. I apologize for that. And then there wound up being a counter-narrative: ‘Well, that makes you racist,' it’s not helpful… it’s being said.
Donald Trump could be a recruitment poster for ISIS because he is fanning the flames of hate.
Forget the politics, I'm sure Mr. Trump has very smart people who are advising him and they've come to the conclusion there are enough extremists in the Republican Party that this Muslim ban is good politics for him.
Fundamentally, my father was a humanist, he was very concerned with how people were treated.

In fact, Mr. President, this is a nation -- Mr. President you ought to know that this nation is more a ‘Tale of Two Cities’ than it is just a ‘Shining City on a Hill,’.
I somehow stumbled through and became a governor, i’ve told you that story. It was all luck. Luck and nothing else.
