We must not lose sight that this watershed moment is bigger than any one industry, any one party, or any one person, to achieve lasting change, we will need to fight this everywhere on behalf of everyone by insisting on accountability and working to bring more women into leadership in each industry to fundamentally shift the culture.
And I think in light of this conversation, we should have a very different conversation about President Trump, and a very different conversation about allegations against him.

While I deeply respect Gen. Mattis’ service, I will oppose a waiver, civilian control of our military is a fundamental principle of American democracy, and I will not vote for an exception to this rule.

We know far more now about the extent of the military sexual assault problem than we did a year ago, and it's clear that nothing has changed.
I think many senators that we've spoken to are concerned, deeply concerned, the military continues to say, 'We got this,' ... but it's not shown in the data. It's not shown in the survivors' testimony.
That's an important message that I think all of us can take away.
American military, if they do these reforms, will have fewer dangerous criminals and far more heroes ... The brave men and women we send to war to keep us safe deserve nothing less than a justice system equal to their sacrifice.
No one should have to suffer the chain of command when they report these crimes.
The military has not been able to demonstrate that they've made a difference.
