Quotes from the news wire:
The next governor in all likelihood is going to have three appointments to our state Supreme Court, which is a historically liberal court. They're activists. They legislate from the bench, i can tell you this : I am best positioned to identify those candidates for nomination to the state Supreme Court who are going to apply the law faithfully and will not be judicial activists.
Every child needs a safe and secure learning environment, by signing HB 1421, we continue to build on the many steps we have taken since 2019 to implement the recommendations of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Public Safety Commission, while also making record investments in mental health and school safety.
Her daughter was in school up in Leon County, and some of the people at school decided that her daughter was really a boy and wanted to identify as a boy. So they changed her name. They changed her quote pronouns. They did these things without telling the mother, much less getting the mother's consent.
We had a mother from Leon County, and her daughter was going to school and some people in the school had decided that the daughter was really a boy and not a girl. So they changed the girl's name to a boy's name, had her dress like a boy and on doing all this stuff, without telling the mother or getting consent from the mother. First of all, they shouldn't be doing that at all. But to do these things behind the parents' back and to say that the parents should be shut out. That is wrong.
So, here is I think why this statement was totally outrageous, for two reasons. One, they said it should have never been passed in the first place. I talked to our Speaker of the House after that statement came out ; he said they never contacted him while they were working -- while it was moving through the House of Representatives in Florida. They didn't say anything about it.
They don't want to admit that they support a lot of the things that we're providing protections against, for example, they support sexualizing kids in kindergarten. They support injecting woke gender ideology into second grade classrooms. … And so what they're doing with these slogans and these narratives is they are trying to camouflage their true intentions.
People actually said that if you don't have classroom instruction on sexual matters in grades k-3 that somehow businesses don't want to be in Florida. I think people need to get out of their bubble and actually talk to parents in this state, because they do not want this in kindergarten or first grade or second grade.

To provide protections for parents, for preschoolers, kindergarteners, first graders, I mean that is something, I think, most parents would appreciate, and we send the kids to school -- young kids -- and we want them to learn the basics. Some of these issues that are just simply not age-appropriate, I think parents want to see protection for that.
For grades pre-K through three, no five-year-olds, six-year-olds, seven-year-olds, and the idea that you wouldn't be honest about that and tell people what it actually says, it's why people don't trust people like you because you peddle false narratives. And so we just disabused you of those narratives.
I think it needs to be said because people have been lied to for two years, they talk about, ‘Oh, by letting someone have a choice to take off their mask and welcoming that choice’ — that that's somehow bullying. Bullying is locking kids out of school, which they did. Bullying is forcing kids to wear masks for eight hours a day, which they did for two years, and are only stopping now because the politics changed.
No, he shouldn't have apologized. I mean, you see what happens? The mob will come after people, and they're targeting Rogan because he's threatening to upset the apple cart on some of the things that they're holding dear. And with COVID, he's just bringing opposing views. He's letting people decide.
If the legislature goes down that route I think that would be very beneficial, it would strike a good balance between penalizing the politicians who flouted the law but also not doing that in a way that’s ham handed and may deprive some innocent school kid of the ability to participate in a certain program.
And so this will give us more people to be able to do things like respond if there's disorder, like respond to disasters and all those other things. It also gives us the ability to have people who are not subject to federal requirements. So, for example, [the federal government] wouldn't be able to mobilize and deploy people who are in the State Guard, they also wouldn't be able to impose mandates on people in the State Guard. They are trying to do that with the federal guard. And so I think it will help us complete our mission and will also allow us to do in a way which is not subject to the whims of the federal government.
I've said previously that I would boycott [the Beijing Olympics]. I mean, I think it's a mistake. I mean, China is our number-one geopolitical foe. If you look at what they're doing, they're amassing huge amounts of power. And it's not just that they're building up their military, they are, they command huge influence within the United States.
Without a shred of clinical data to support this action, Biden has forced trained medical professionals to choose between treating their patients or breaking the law, this indefensible edict takes treatment out of the hands of medical professionals and will cost some Americans their lives. There are real-world implications to Biden’s medical authoritarianism – Americans’ access to treatments is now subject to the whims of a failing president.
When COVID was first coming, you know, we were actually engaged in it, i was telling Trump, ‘Stop the flights from China' because we didn't know what we were dealing with. But you know, I never thought in February, early March, that it would lead to locking down the country. I just didn’t. I didn't think that was on the radar.
We set up these centers this summer when we started to see the delta variant rear its head, and it worked. We were keeping tens of thousands of people out of the hospital, saved thousands of lives. No one disputes that, well, as that was happening in September, the federal government decided to seize control of the monoclonal antibodies and cut supplies to Florida and Texas, mainly.
If the corporate press nationally isn't attacking me, then I'm probably not doing my job, so the fact that they are attacking me is a good indication that, you know what, I'm tackling the big issues. We're going after critical race theory. We're fighting back against Biden's mandates. We're fighting back against illegal immigration – all those things that a vast majority of Floridians and Americans want to see done but that does threaten the ruling class and the regime.
Prior to the federal government takeover of the monoclonal market, Florida successfully distributed approximately 30,000 doses per week when we managed our own supply, the state has more than $800 million available to quickly deploy monoclonal antibody treatments throughout the state, and the only thing holding us back is the insufficient supply of treatment from the federal government.
That was wrong. … That was an agenda at play. They were using this to be able to erode your rights and your liberties and here's the thing, they can't take away your freedoms, they can't take away your rights to worship, to go to church, and to give thanks to God, in Florida, you can mark it down, we will not let anyone shut you down and we are gonna make sure our rights are respected. That's what we've done and that's what we will continue to do.
And so in Florida, people are going to be able to make those decisions. We do put a lot of emphasis, unlike most states and certainly unlike the Biden administration, on early treatment, when people do get infected and it's not just unvaccinated, like they like to say, our monoclonal antibody clinics that we set up across the state, the majority of people that go to those are fully vaccinated, high-risk people. And so since we've rolled out our monoclonal antibody clinics, we've had one of the lowest hospitalization rates in the country.
I think most people that come here would say we have better roads, infrastructure, services, our K-12 schools perform higher, we have the number one rated public university system in the country. And we do all that with no state income tax and in fact have the lowest per capita tax burden in the country. And we have over $15 billion in surplus revenue.
We are going to create a separate office at the state level solely dedicated to investigating and prosecuting election crimes in the state of Florida. We’ll [have] sworn law enforcement officers as part of this, we’ll have investigators, we’ll have the statewide prosecutor that’s able to bring the cases, i guarantee you this: The first person that gets caught, no one is going to want to do it again after that.
I told Floridians that we would protect their jobs, and today we made that the law, nobody should lose their job due to heavy-handed COVID mandates, and we had a responsibility to protect the livelihoods of the people of Florida. I’m thankful to the Florida Legislature for joining me in standing up for freedom.
The federal government has no right to tell parents that in order for their kids to attend school in person, they must be forced to wear a mask all day, every day, many Florida schoolchildren have suffered under forced masking policies, and it is prudent to protect the ability of parents to make decisions regarding the wearing of masks by their children.
As the rest of the nation faces rampant inflation and businesses stare down unprecedented supply chain problems, our message is this: Florida is here, we have capacity, we have incentive packages to help businesses who want to move here and we are going to make sure Americans get their Christmas gifts this season.
If somebody is symptomatic, of course they stay home. If there's a close contact, but somebody has not developed any symptoms -- you monitor them, you notify the parent, the parent always has the right to have their kids stay home, if they think that's in the best interest of the student and the family 100 percent, we would not want to intrude on that. But if a parent has a healthy child, that child has a right to be in school.
What we have found is, you know, in the trial courts in Tallahassee, state and federal, we typically lose if there is a political component to it. But then in the appeals court, we almost always win, and so I don't think( the judge) is going to lift the stay... but if it is lifted I am confident that that will be reinstated at the 11th Circuit.
What they did in Texas was interesting, and I haven’t really been able to look enough about it, they’ve basically done this through private right of action, so it’s a little bit different than how a lot of these debates have gone, so we’ll have to look, I’m going to look more significantly at it, i do think that at the end of the day the science on this has been very powerful now for a long time, you go back 40 years ago what people thought versus what they can see now, very very powerful, so I’ve always been somebody that really does support protections for life, as best as we can do.
Now, what the AP did by trying to create a false narrative is some people may believe the narrative and then think that this is not a viable treatment for them so if they're infected, they will not go seek a monoclonal antibody and that will ultimately increase their risk of hospitalization, so the AP knew what they were doing, they wanted to do a political hit on me and the fallout from that is that there will likely be people who decline life-saving treatment. And then they have the temerity to act like they were the victim when they got called out on their hit piece.
While you have all this stuff going on with Afghanistan, obviously all of the stuff at the southern border… one of the biggest border disasters in the history of our country, inflation, gas prices, and what does he do? he is obsessed with having the government force kindergarteners to wear masks all day in school.
The one thing that communist regimes fear the most, is the truth. And if we’re able to help Cubans communicate with one another, also communicate to the outside world, that truth is going to matter, that truth, I think, will be decisive, and so, Mr. President, now's the time to stand up and be counted.
Every family in our state should be able to send their children to school and know that they will be protected from harm and be able to practice their faith, i’m proud to sign these bills today to help protect religious freedom in Florida and increase the safety and security of our Jewish communities.
Some of our biggest media conglomerates, who claim to be avatars of the First Amendment and free exchange of ideas, they've become cheerleaders for censorship, if something doesn't fit the overriding narrative then, in their view, it's better that it's left on the cutting room floor, it's best that you edit it out of existence rather than actually tell people the truth.
We’re in a situation where we did over 400,000 shots last week Monday through Sunday, this week we probably aren’t going to reach that just simply because we’re not getting enough vaccine. We have places that can do more and we want them to do more if we can get more than 266,000 doses we will be able to do a lot more very quickly.
We spent months saying that there were certain things that were essential -- that included fast food restaurants, it included Walmart, it included Home Depot. If fast food and Walmart and Home Depot -- and look, I do all that, so I'm not looking down on it -- but if all that is essential, then educating our kids is absolutely essential, i have no doubt we can do this safely.
As soon as we get this stuff here or in Orlando we're getting it out, all of this stuff is in such short supply around the world and around our country, but particularly involving these collection swabs to take the samples. As soon as we get them we push them out. So we'll be pushing out a thousand swabs to Miami-Dade, another thousand swabs to Broward, another thousand swabs to Hillsborough( counties).
The amendment says, if you read it, that you have to complete your sentence. And I think most people understand you can be sentenced to jail, probation, restitution if you harm someone. You can be sentenced with a fine. People that bilk people out of money, sometimes that's an appropriate sentence. That's what the constitutional provision said.
Critics of Common Core, including Tea Party groups, said itwouldtake away local control and dumb downschools. Meanwhile, many parents had trouble understanding some of the teaching methods and found the curriculum confusing, particularly some of the math lessons. One of the things we would constantly hearabouton the campaign trail was a lot of frustration from parents in particular with this idea of Common Core, when you complained... I heard you. I told you Id do something about it. And today we are acting to bring promises to reality.
For seventy years, these four men have had their history wrongly written for crimes they did not commit. As I have said before, while that is a long time to wait, it is never too late to do the right thing, i believe the rule of law is society's sacred bond. When it is trampled, we all suffer. For the Groveland Four, the truth was buried. The Perpetrators celebrated. But justice has cried out from that day until this.
Every president for 25 years has promised that on the campaign trail, once in office, they didn't do it. Donald Trump promised it, and Donald Trump followed through with it. And so to me, when you give your word, and you follow through with it as an elected official, that is the model that we're supposed to do.
In this instance you’ve had people for years and years who have been arrested on very, very serious offenses – sexual assault, homicides – and then if they get bail, that information is not provided to ICE so that we can track and identify these people, had you just notified ICE and then had ICE enforce the law, those future crimes would not have been committed.
