I recently had an opportunity to spontaneously share some of my life experiences with a new, recently close, friend. When sharing them, I became surprisingly emotional and can relate to the suggestion that nostalgia is the pain from an old wound. That is exactly how I felt. I no longer had those profound and formative experiences, only the memory of them. And they were not an illusion but were real and deep and true. more »
