Quotes from the news wire:
Truly heroic work does, I hope, get the recognition it deserves: the officer who runs into a burning building to save someone, the officer who risks his or her life to save that of a civilian in a hostage situation, but the work of police officers is full of other types of good work every day: helping the good people in neighborhoods with the problems they have. Helping us all, in small ways, to have a safe and prosperous place to live. That's the everyday work that doesn't get a lot of recognition, because it's not unusual.
Do police officers feel under siege? Yes, they do feel that way. I've heard a lot of them say that, but there's no evidence of the so-called Ferguson effect -- that police are hesitating to do their jobs -- or that criminals are being emboldened by the rhetoric. They're not doing their jobs any differently. The job is harder in the last year, but they aren't just lying down.
They all have different goals and objectives based on their interests and health status. But if I were to pick a common thread it is the following: the need to de-stress through workouts that challenge their neurological, cardiovascular and muscular systems, popular trends are self-limiting exercises, ones that you can use your body as leverage and resistance against yourself.
I could write a book on our frustration in literally hundreds of meetings with European leaders who, however otherwise well intentioned, refused to grasp the problem staring them -- the anti-Semitic problem staring them in the face, they ducked it they avoided it ... and now 15 years later the problem is so big and so deadly and so rooted that it's going to take a lot more than one eloquent speech by a president or a prime minister.
