Dysphonia is not a singing problem. It's a voice box issue in the muscle on the voice, very different from having a nodule on the vocal cords, which I've never had. I'm lucky that I've never had that. It needs a long renewal time, and even today, I am still addressing it.
I feel sexy when I get out of the tub - your skin is fresh and you've put up your hair without looking.
I find that the very things that I get criticized for, which is usually being different and just doing my own thing and just being original, is the very thing that's making me successful.
I'm neither embarrassed of who I am, where I come from, what I've experienced, I'm not ashamed of it.
I'm never at my best on television. There's a row of cameras between you and the audience, and it's very weird, very confusing.
Life unravels the way it does, and it has an effect on you, but you have to take responsibility for dealing with it.
Quotes from the news wire:
I invited them to do a little acappella piece with me tonight, just as part of my exchange of supporting upcoming young female artists, people that might, in this day and age, be excluded.

I’m feeling positive and optimistic, but still at the same time unapologetic. I don’t feel like I need to explain myself as much, but I feel very responsible, still. The ‘Queen of Me’ title for the album couldn’t be more fitting for where I’m at in my own mind.

I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Right from the beginning, I was not going to collaborate with anybody for this one, this needed to be an independent experience. I hadn’t written by myself for a long time. I was married for 14 years to my collaborator, and I really just needed to do that again. I needed to go back and do that by myself and have an uninterrupted flow of creativity that was insular, to see what I was made of, to see what I have there.
It’s an honor to be a part of the Country Music Hall of Fame exhibitions for 2017, being able to re-visit favorite costumes, photographs and memories from my career has been a special feeling, especially as this year will see a new stage for me with a brand new album! I’m very excited to have these important creative moments on display.
Whenever it goes too far in one direction, it just gets boring. It's very dominated by men right now … We don't have enough women, maybe it's more romance that country is missing right now. Women have a lot to say but it takes a lot of courage to say it. Women are the greater risk-takers. When they step out of what's expected in this genre, they are really stepping in the line of fire.
