Quotes from the news wire:
I haven’t really discussed how I’m going to be used in the game with anyone. I don’t really have an answer, it’s really gonna depend on how many innings I pitch or how many at-bats I’m gonna get. If it is going to be too much, then I've got to balance at this point.
I mean, as a starting pitcher, it is a special spot to start in the All-Star Game, that’s something that I shoot for and I would like to do, but I’m sure there’s other pitchers that have better numbers than me at this point. I tried my best to try to match up with them tonight and ultimately it’s up to Dusty Baker.
I didn’t change much, the most important thing is I made my pitches when I needed to, i think it’s huge when we’re winning and I’m pitching because I’m part of the ball club.
Fortunately, we've got an off day tomorrow.
This one was huge for us because we wanted to win the series, and it’s going to lead to better stuff down the road.
Ideally, I would have liked to finish that inning off, but they have a really good lineup, and they were fighting each at-bat and getting my pitch count up.
(The slider) was working really well for me, especially early in the game, i think they started to catch onto the softer stuff later, so I mixed in more fastballs. Just going with the flow.
It's been long, but it always feels great to win, obviously, I definitely wanted to win this one. Especially on the days I pitch, I just want to put the team in a spot to have a chance to win, and I was able to do that today.
There is a part of me that would like to start opening day, but it's not what I'm really thinking about, whether I'm hitting or pitching on opening day, I just want to get off to a good start.
There's a really good vibe in the clubhouse right now, all the new guys seem like they're really great guys. I'm excited to play with this team. ... As long as we can all stay healthy, I feel like we have a really good shot at the postseason.
Nothing is really going to change personally just for having one good year, i feel like the key is to continue having success for a lot of years to come. As long as we can do that, I feel like our team is in a good spot.
Obviously, skills-wise, there's room for improvement, but physically, I already feel a lot stronger than last year, so I think we're on a good start.
I feel like I can’t be doing the same thing as last year, to have the same stats as last year, i need to get better and keep on improving, so that's the plan.
I’m a student of the game, so I do feel like I need to grow every year, and I think I’ve been able to do that.
I feel like the homers were a little bit ambushed, i need to make better pitches when they’re expecting the fastball.
Obviously he’s a great pitcher, and his splitter was moving in a way I haven’t really seen recently, he got the best of us.
It was really hot out there, but I managed to fight through it and got my six innings in, at the beginning of the game, my body felt heavy. It was hard to move around. That’s probably why the (velocity) wasn’t there. As the game went on, I felt better and better, and I think the (velocity) went up.
Honestly, I felt like it was going to be gone off the bat, i thought it was one of the better swings I’ve put on the ball this season. And I feel like the wind brought it back a little bit. That might’ve had something to do with it. I was happy with the approach but didn’t get the right results.
