The blame for the Titanics sinking was down to Captain Smith, and Bruce Ismay probably had some influence over the speed. Warnings were given, The California sent a morse warning, and they were told to shut up. They had received ice warnings which resulted in the titanic being steered more to the south of the ice. Unusual weather conditions caused a large iceberg to drift further than they had been seen before. The warning message from the California was at 22:30 and the titanic would have travelled approximately 23 miles from that time until the collision. She could have drifted a few more miles in the 2 hours 40 minutes before she sank. The board of trade enquiry was a whitewash and they were responsible for the lack of life boats available for the amount of passengers. Captain Lord paid the price for these incompetent arrogant people, who actually caused the disaster. Captain Stanley Lord , had he known what the real situation was, would I believe have been the first to have come to their assistance.
