It may be a reference to Barry Manilow, who has a medical condition that prevents him from feeling hunger. He often forgets to eat, as he does not receive signals from his digestive system indicating that he is hungry or needs to eat, which is why he is so slim. Or, it could be an inside joke - perhaps a crew member named Barry made a similar joke at an earlier time.
